Remember The Great Veterans Today Dec. 7th

I remember being a little kid at the local parades back in the late 60's, seeing these really old veterans at the front of the parade and asking my mom who they were and why they got the front of the line. She told me they were WW I vets and that there would be a time in the near future that I would not see them anymore and to remember them always.
I say this because the same is happening now with WW II vets, I also remember when I was young, that Dec 7th was talked about in the days preceding and on the 7th, it was spoken with reverence....not so much lately, barely a mention in national news the past few years or more, with the exception of this year being the 75th anniversary and all, I think it will slip into our collective subconsciousness and all but disappear into the history books as a paragraph of a long ago time.
