TTA 603 Need Help With Getting Car Running - In Garage since 2013

I have been a member of this forum for quite a few years and I was at the 2011 reunion. However after the reunion, I had the car in to go over issues with the car and the mechanic took total advantage and long story short put 2,000 miles on the car and the heater core broke which he jury rigged up. The passenger side floor was covered in water only but he claimed the T Tops were leaking. I took the car home, had a garage built for it, covered it with 2 car covers and the interior with bankets and towels and the car has sat ever since.

I now would like to find a reputable place to restore this car to running. It has been protected from the elements but has sat. I also have several thousand invested in NOS parts for this car that are sitting in my house.

I need a reputable place that will not rip me off, steal my parts, and be honest with me, and who really knows these cars and how to work on them. I have had really bad experiences with mechanics and I am very gun shy.

My name is Lynn Van Gilder and I live in Edgewood, Maryland (Harford County)

I also would like to know if it is recommended to put NOS parts in the car to repair it or get 2023 parts that look like original to fix it. I do know that I have a new water pump, and I cannot remember all the other parts I bought for it. I have a partial list and it includes gaskets, T Top rubber liner, brakes, steering parts, like I said I have a partial list of all I have bought.

Really need help with this project. The car itself is in beautiful condition as far as outside and interior (I think, have to check to be sure).

Greatly appreciate any help and advice. Thank you so very much

Lynn

Hi Lynn

I think I remember you from the 2011 reunion, your car is good looking. I wish I could be more help, I just don't know any shops in your area. If I was closer I would help you myself.

Good luck

I remember you from the 2011 reunion. I really wish you did live closer!! I thought I heard from someone (Anderson??) approximately two hours away but I am not sure. I sure could use some help. Thanks for responding!

NOS parts are not always the best way to go. There are tons of aftermarket parts that are perfectly fine and a heater core is one of those that is better these days. It won't be fun to replace, but it is a necessary item for sure. Good luck on finding some one to help. Maybe look on any third gen forums in your area, they should be able to help you since most items are the same. Facebook forums/Groups are great these days. (even though Jarred isn't on any of them ;) )

Heres a thought You can always take the heater core to a radiator shop and have it recored doing the heater core is no that bad of a job i did it a while ago i figured out a short cut where you dont have to take the whole dash out it would be helpful if you remove the passenger seat i was able to remove the dash from the passenger side and pull it on an angle and take a coat hanger to keep it up which gave me enough room to pull the heater box out
