Hey thanks-looks like the right year, says 1984. The color does look off-faded maybe? From California, so could very well be sun damage. I am gonna hold off and talk to PhillyD's buddy first. Appreciate the link though!
 
So coincidental you mention this, I'm surfing the net now, saw that one a little bit ago, but he wont ship it. Local pick up only. I contacted Hawks today-they got in a 83 Knight Rider for parts-looks like a good dash pad. I'm waiting for pictures and a price-I've asked twice how much and they havent said. Hopefully we can negoiate something agreeable for both parties. I appreciate you looking for me Vince, it takes a lot of time, checking all the time. Dont want one to get away. Lol
 
Sorry Kymmee - I guess I should have read the whole ad. Hawks is a bit high but if it's in good shape, it might be worth it. Shipping is a killer. I hear some horror stories of them getting damaged in transit.

Wow - that dash pad in the 83 is in great shape. That car has a bunch of nice parts, and the interior looks good.
 
I dont know why they list it as a parts car-maybe it doesnt run. They will get $$ for those PMD's. Nothing against the KR fans, but I really dont like the front ends on those cars.

Yeah I know about the shipping. Probably as bad as the hood insulator from carmotorsports. I'm always a little leary about shipping anything as a few years ago I had a really bad experience with UPS. They crunched my sons Xbox on a warranty return. Haggled between UPS/Microsoft for about 4 mos. Ended up getting on the local news channel-they had a consumer complaint feature. Only then did they fix things. Microsoft are corporate bast----. 42 billion dollar profit in quarter calender year and they scoffed at a $399 replacement. Ok I feel better, venting-BTW this happened about 4 years ago and it still gets me pi---- off.
 
Hawks finally got back with me on that dash pad they had. Said they sold the whole car to someone else, so the search continues...................
 
See what he says. You never know ... I sometimes go that way and can get it ... you would just have to reimburse for packaging and shipping ...
 
Ok-that would be cool that you would do that for me. I'll give him a call later today and see what he's got. I'll let you know.

Called him-you are right-nice guy-but no pad. Said he had 12 of them at one time (all different years) but this is the last one.
 
Thanks Vince for the leads. I have probably checked 6 or 7 more prospects since my last post on this thread. Always a dead end. I have decided to do a nice thing and take the good dash pad out of my 82 base car and give it to my husband for the MSE (its his car). The 82 base car is a summer driver and I will eventually find a replacement for it. I dont want to do business with "Dave" if there are red flags-besides $250 is a little overpriced IMO. I am patient.
 
I don't blame you. Something will turn up. I am going to repair the minor cracks in mine that are by the speaker grilles. I have been looking into it, and I have seen many promising repairs with Evercoat bumper repair. I have had mine in my father's basement for 20 years. I replaced it with a later model dash pad, and now I want to put the original pad back. The cracks in mine are very minor - only about 1/4 inch long. I am going to repair it, and repaint it with SEM Landau black. I will let you know how it turns out. Check out the repair this guy did on his dash. He re-textured it with truck bed coating after the repairs, and it looks great.
