Went to Carlisle's event today and saw two TTA's for sale. One festival t top car with 12k miles on it for $17.9k. Was stolen once and had a badly mismatched repainted fender. Had all the documents. Its pace car #41. Another was a 100k mile one with a modified motor(champion heads etc) that had a ton of extra emblems, radio etc with it., Was pretty rough..

Just curious, how do you know it was actually stolen ? Story I got was that it was attempted break in right on the car trailer either at Carlisle or en route. It had a clean car fax and title, other than to show Indy, California then Florida. Fender is a poor paint match, but there was absolutely no body damage & it was the original fender.
It is car #41, the #41 was under the INDY plate written on the bumper cover. Car is a cloth interior car and everything consistant with being a festival car.
This would be the TTA sitting in my garage.
Bought it Saturday at noon, jumped in & drove it 450 trouble free miles home. Very clean car. Will be putting all the original stereo back in, the orginal head unit was included with the car. Have looked it over pretty good, no real surprises other than a small chip on the windshield that I'll get repaired before it cracks.

You just never know when buying a car in a place like Carlisle. Most times I've been lucky & the vendor has been honest. What frankgn87 saw was the passenger side door lock had been punched/damaged. They put another lock in it, but did not repair the door. I'll have the door & fender done at the same time. It was more important to me that the mechanical & basic interior was unmolested, which it basically is. There is always something you miss when buying a car, so far the AC does not seem to want to come on, but it has been cold enough that it might not.
What the vendor told me was that the car had an attempted break in at Carlisle while it was sitting on the car hauler. Since the car did not really have any other signs of theft/recovery & it had a clean carfax, I accepted the explanation. So far the car runs fine, just passed an e-test & the safety inspection will not be an issue.
Will make a nice addition to my 87 GN, 94 25th T/A, 35th Camaro Conv & 66 GTO.

Hi frankgn87, hope you did not take my comments as any sort of criticism, none at all, just got concerned that you might have known something I didn't. A branded car from a theft recovery is just something you do not want to own, critically bringing it across the border into Canada. It creates all sorts of issues.
The title & paperwork are clean, so that is all I can go on, that & the rest of the car is undamaged, it does not appear to have gone on any wild joy rides and the ignition lockset is original. So far everything is working out. Had two tires rebalanced so far, they were way out & one directional tire was installed backwards.
The stuff you find when buying a new, used car,,,
Installed the original radio tonight, nice surprise, no cut wiring & all worked well along with the steering wheel controls.

No, not at all, just wondered if you knew something I didn't. The vendor seemed honest enough, and he knows a lot of other vendors that I know that are regular Carlisle & other show circuit guys, so it would really not be in his best interest to have been any other way, because we will meet again, and again,,,. It's a small world. So far the deal has been solid, good car, everything & a bit more than represented, so that is all you can ask for.
Changed the oil tonight & topped up the other fluids, great undercarriage, minimal hoist/jack misques & leaks. Once I clean off the road grime, it will look like a California car should.
Also did my GN tonight, interesting that the oil filters are different. Oil plug was a allen key carriage bolt head, no idea if this is original, but would save any bump hits on it.
The vendor was good to deal with, I'd buy off him again. Saw the GN and thought that was a good deal. Few panel wobbles, which is common & black makes them stand right out, but thought that was another Carlisle deal. My GN has 33K on it & mostly original paint. Paint looked good on that GN, did not have the body side moldings on it, so no idea if it was a repaint or not. Most needed repainting leaving the factory.
My favourites for the show were the one I bought, that GN & the Firehawk convertible up on the hill. Saw the Firehawk last Fall, but my shop was not done, no where to put it. That was a very clean car.
