3rd gen pillar molds

Hi guys.. just thought I'd dock in and show you whats coming up.
Been working on the expensive side of the ledger with good tooling for the 3rd gen pillar moldings.
Stage two complete.. the revised/revised/adjustments and more adjustments to the tooling.. ...next is the exterior finish.
These fit well now.. very happy with them.

This ranks for us in the top 5 parts costs for development costs....in comparison could bring to market probably 12-15 entire new emblems for the same sort of costing... not a cheap part to tool up for but .. that's life.
Hope to have them out around August.. maybe at the TA Nats in Dayton.

Looking good Dave ... this will be a brilliant replacement for those twisted and brittle OEM's on our cars ... take them out once and the clips bits are broken :-(

Will these install as the originals; any chance to make the slit for those clips a bit better (more material) so they don't brake as easy as the OEM's?

Will they also have the piece of weatherstrip running on the side facing outwards?

Yes they will have the sponge gap seal fitted.. as per original.
I've not built up the retainer mounts no.. but can if you guys really think its needed.. say by a mil or so without then effecting the use of original retainers ...Good point.. will look at that..
One thing that is apparent on most all the test cars.. people have broken lower molding locators.. the piece that goes up along side each dash corner.. as shown in picture's LHS top image.. the white is the new test molding.. the black bit is a molding receiver/locator, that the pillar molding clips into in two different lower locations.

I think it's worth building up those retainer mounts both on the "height" and the "width" ... this will really help making sure they don't crack/break over time when you remove and re-install the pillar pod.

The lower molding locators/tabs as you say also tend to break or at least get bent ... not sure what you can do about that area?
