83 MSE Barn Find

spent the day up at my brothers new place yesterday. he just moved to the foot hills up near the gold country. while on our way to the little country store to get some BBQ supplies i spot sitting outside in front of a barn back behind this house on a winding two lane country road a 1983 MSE T/A....totally dirty with cob webs and all. naturally it got my attention and i wanted to stop but my bro was NOT up to the challenge. so after we got back to his place, me and my other brother went back so i could try & get some more info. i knocked on the front door, NO answer so i walked around toward the car all the while yelling "hello, anybody home" ala American Pickers style and still got no reply. there were two dogs there, neither one made a sound so after a second attempt at the front door with no luck we left.....for now!....
i wanted to get close enuff to the car to see the build number on the fender but that really would have been trespassing so decided to not press my luck at that point....
i'm gonna try and go back up that way in a few weeks or so to see if i cant make contact and get the story on it if nothing else. if it was just another old third gen sitting there it probably would not peek my interest as much, but theres no doubt its an MSE so i might make the effort to find out more......just imagine if it was a TTA.......

Yes, if you get any more info-please post away! I have a great interest in the MSE's. A third gen car that is not well recognized or documented. Always like hearling stories of any "find". Thanks in advance.

i thought you'd appreciate this one kymmee. i'll do my best to get a closer look and try to snap a pic or two....i have no other info save for its a hardtop,which i like. could be a 5-speed too but i just don't know.....

update:its been several weeks and i've been wanting too but just haven't been able to get up that way yet. however i did write up a little bio and sent it to my brother for him to place in the car owners mail box. never did hear nothing back till today....

the owner called me, told me a brief history about the car and what his plans were. same old story... bought it in hopes to fix it up and drive, loves the car but realize it's gonna take more time and money then he has and now probably should sell it....i did get the build number and the vin and asked him to take and send photos of all the important stuff....
turn's out it is a 5-speed car with gray/black interior. hopefully later today i'll have some pix and more info.....

funny you brought this up today, i was asked/invited to go up there today (brothers) but could not make it . anyway i did get both, our plan was to meat up over the holidays last, i made good on my word but never got a response so i just let it go. i did do a drive-by last time i was up that way and the car was still sitting there. short story is its in kinda rough shape, did run but not now due to rodents eating away the engine wiring and such.i am sure it could clean up and run but it's more of a project then i have time for these days.
i did/do have an interest but only at the *right price.* for the time being i'm just on to other things.....(Untouched Original Survivors)

Too bad it is just wasting away. There seems to be certain people that let cars sit for years untouched, and have high aspirations that they are worth a gold mine. I don't blame you for not wanting a project car. When we bought our MSE it had under 30k, was running and was a 10 footer. It took lots of labor and money to get it where it is today. I have no regrets doing what we did, but would not go thru it again with another car.
