an idea for the '92 T/A

I'm incredibly bored with the 305 TPI in my '92 T/A convertible. And I've been noodling over some upgrades or plain old engine swaps. Now an LS swap is an obvious choice, but done to death these days.

I was thinking about a 4.3 V6 swap from a typhoon or syclone. I mean a proven V6 that has already been tested for forced induction. I think the F body may even lend itself to this swap. And I'd be willing to go out on a limb and say it would outperform the syclone or typhoon it originally came from.

What do you fellas think? Has it been done before?

Dude, whats there to think about? Put a 3.8 Buick turbo in her! You know the motor and it's stronger that the 4.3 under some "real" boost. Or be really unique and mate 4 briggs and Stratton motors in there...J/K

Unique is part of the equation...a 3.8 is certainly traveled path. But a 4.3 is bolt in with what I can tell is very little fabrication. It's basically a small block chevy,less two cylinders.

I could use alot of the existing drivetrain.

Oh, ok then. That does make sense. Sounds cool. Those Syclone motors rock 'n' roll!!. My Dad had one back in 91. I drove it many times. Pulled great. No tire spinning issues with AWD. I raced it. My brother was driving it and I was in my TTA. My mods then where K&N, road light removed for intake, HKS boost controller, adj actuator set to probably 19 (greedy back then on pump gas) and a cutout on the stock DP, stock chip, stock tires (gatorB) I spun like crazy, and was at the door of the SY, it shot out of the hole. when I stopped spinning I went around the Sy pulling evenly till I was about 3 cars in front by the end of 1/4. That was an epic race. Do it to it!!:toot:
