Any GoPro users?

I've been kicking around the idea of getting a Gopro to video track passes, but I don't know what I'm looking for in their lineup for cameras, or mounts for that matter. It gets pretty violent over 100MPH outside a car so I don't know what kind of mount that would need.

I'm a pretty dis-interested novice when it comes to cameras, still and video alike. But I still want a good one and I only want to buy it once.

There's a lot of terminology that is foreign to me. So feel free to educate me.
 
I'm keen on doing the same to add some high speed footage to the video my son did for me ...

However when we did the professional shoot for the UK magazine the photographer used a large boom with suction cups attached to the hatch glass and then the windshield which was all good but he told me the horror story of avoiding using suction cups on the paint as he had bad experience of cars that been repainted and the suction cups took the paint off :-(

I can see this happening if repainted and several old layers of paint and the suction cups he used are very large to hold a heavy camera so a gopro being very light should not be a problem however I would also be worried it would just fall off during highway speed; maybe get a very cheap chinese copy just in case lol.

I dont have one, but a friend does and lost it in the water on a kayak trip. The waves were big and splashing and the suction cup let loose. He now has the new one rigged with a secondary safety, a carabiner and some marine line. So yes, they can pop off.
 
I use a contour suctioned under my PS t-top. Bought it on eBay for $50 used. Love recording test hits on the street and track. Nice thing is, you can hear stuff like shifts, revs, ect. Let's me know what the car is doing if I'm occupied looking at boost, kr, ect.

Yeah thats what i 'm worried about ( highway speeds) 1/4 mile is one thing but a cannonball run is another, but what the hell, i ain't scared of no ghost's...:WOOT:
