Anyone use studs instead of headbolts?

WS6

Stay thirsty my friends
If so, do you happen to have ARP part numbers?

And what thread sealant did you use for studs...

..:coffee:

I have two motors with studs.... I do not have the arp numbers, sorry, I used permatex sealant on the threads with no issue and a sealant tab into the rad. You'll have to notch the exhaust manifolds to fit over the studs.

Okay thanks Jarred, did you have a coolant leak and that is why you used the sealant tab? or just being doubly careful. And is the permatex sealant the same you used on headbolts, the white goop that allot of us use?

..

Yes the same white goopy stuff. I use that with cometic gasket and the sealant tab was for extra ins when using a cometic gasket. I crushed up two tabs and popped them into the rad and have not had a problem. Maybe I did not need them but everyone seems to recommend them and they were less than a buck. I was told not to put more than two in at a time or the heater core may get clogged. Also it is good to use the arp lube when torquing the nut onto the stud to get the correct torque load. What head gasket are you using? I know with the RJC head gasket he recommends to use his black silicone stuff on the threads of the studs that go into the water jacket.

I'm using Felpro 9441's...at my power level they are all I need.Besides...I have a reputation for detonation!!
