Build 9lbs of boost then honking sound?

I'm a new owner of a TTA which I took out for the 1st time today. Everything ran fine, I filled it with gas and drove it home. On the way home, it started something interesting. Nailing the throttle, it built about 8.5 -9lbs of boost then began emitting a loud "honking" sound from the engine. The boost never increased past 8.5-9. This happened every time I nailed it. Being new to the 3.8 turbo, I'm not sure where to start. Anybody else experience this? Maybe a blow off valve of some sort?

Found this on a dodge forum. Could this be it?

A Honking Goose Sound on Acceleration
EDIT: Resolved! replaced the stock bpv as recommended and the hooting noise is gone! guess it was indeed the leaky stock bpv..
thanks again everyone for all your help.

so did a search and i think this is just due to a leaking old stock bov/dv..

we need more details on the mods an an engine pic .... ive personally never had that issue

Hey Rich, i forgot i had turned the boost down but i did it for a reason, the quality of gas these day's vary alot from state to state and knowing there is no scanmaster in the car i didn't want a new owner to blow a headgasket the first time they drove it, so all that being said you need to buy a SM so you know what's going on with the eng. . you can turn the boost up some to maybe 13-14lbs but i would be very careful on pump gas and no SM.
BTW the honking sound you hear is most likely turbo sneeze which they all do.
If you have any question's just give me a call.....

Thanks for the help guys. I adjusted the wastegate actuator rod to within 1/4" of the wastegate pin and pulled it to hook onto the pin. To do that I had to unscrew the rod maybe 3 turns. Put the C clip back on and no change in boost or the goose/honking sound when it hits 9lbs. I found several threads that indicate this sound is "normal' when a wastegate or BOV releases pressure from the turbo. So it seems as if I'm releasing boost just before 9 psi regardless of adjustments (unless there's another adjustment for boost). Could this be a bad actuator? I had the car at a car show that night before the problems started with the hood open so I suppose it's POSSIBLE that someone may have done something (I hope not but just stating facts). Seemed to run fine before that.

Wrong direction, make the rod shorter to increase boost, also make sure the vac. is connected to the boost solenoid....

Well, problem solved. I kept increasing the boost 1 turn at a time and no change in boost or the noise. 2x I lost the "C" clip (note to self to buy extra). Anyway, I found out how important the clamps are around the intercooler. The clamp was loose and the gasket came loose under the neck. As I made boost, it was blowing out the bottom of the intercooler neck and making a goose/honking sound. Now I have to turn the boost back down and pray I don't loose that "C" clip. Ordering a scanmaster tomorrow. Looks like they have a 3.0 version now.

Glad you got it sorted! I was thinking Robert might have his pet Goose stuck in that engine. As far as the Scanmaster goes the 3.0 is for cars with interface for XFI engine management and I am sure they still make the 2.1 version like all of us have.:beach:

Looking for help once again. I keep blowing the hose clamp off the round gasket where the turbo meets the intercooler. The clamp is very tight but simply won't hold the pressure (set at 14lbs). The clamp looks like a stock hose clamp. Is there a secret or replacement clamp that would solve for this?
