Canada importation legislation

Hi guys, I have a question for our canadian friends.

Does importing a car from USA require some modifications on the car to comply with canadian specifications ?

My car should be shipped to France in a few months and Fench customs are quite pain in the ass concerning collection cars. To have a chance to pay less custom duties I have to make sure my TTA is 100% original in order to be considered as collection.

My TTA was for sale in Ottawa in 12/2010 so that's the reason why I am asking. When I bought the car the ad said the car is completely original, I hope this is truly the case.

I can't imagne the French would know what a modified TTA looks like unless the mods were obvious. Seiorously, how would they know?

Canadian cars must pass an "out of country" inspection meaning they can not be modified. It must then pass a provincial safety inspection to be registered. With this said I imported a heavily modified car with roll cage and it passed "out of country", even though it was clearly not original.

Do your homework and make sure the car is original enough to pass in France.

Well the TTA looks definitely original but I just wanted to be sure that there could not be something not shown on pictures that could have been done when the car came in Canada.

If no modifications are required for a car coming from USA to Canada I guess I have my answer

Now that you point it, there is small chance that french customs could identify minor modifications if it happens to be the case on my TTA.
