Cool GNX video

Yeah, that's an old one with Joe Harrington. He used to be on the old, old, GN/T-type mailing list (before all the forums). Had a TON of Turbo Buicks including a built GN running 10s (at the time, that was a BIG deal) and 2 GNXs. His low mile GNX was even on display at the Corvette Museum for the Nationals!
 
now i by no mean wanna offend anyone on here if they have one...but i find some gnx owners to be the biggest d**ks in the automotive world...there's another video on youtube talkin bout gn n gnx's and immediatley the gnx owner said in a smirk attitude "this aint no grand national...its a gnx" look i got the whole lovin your car attitude and portraying it as great but there is no need to be rude and obnoxious about it...whenever ive seen one around and i tried talkin to the owner they act like such d**cks...idk maybe its just me lol
 
That reminds me of an old joke...

Of course, you could substitute any car make/model into that.

But seriously, I don't label owners of any particular car brand or type. People are people, and most car folk tend to get along even if they don't share the same views. I've had lots of people who drove Mustangs and European cars admire and compliment my TTA when I had it. Only a few didn't.

I've known Joe for quite a few years, along with a few other GNX owners, and they're all good guys. The Chicagoland Buick club was and is full of great members. They welcome TTA owners in with open arms. The Pontiac club, eh, not quite as much.
 
The Buick engine wasn't in the Typhoon and Cyclone. Those were Chevy 4.3 liter engines. Csaba Csere should have checked his facts.
 
idk i hvnt really been to shows with the tta so i hvnt met ne gnx guys with it im goin by expierence in the past when i would show up with either my iroc or 02 t/a

I thought the same thing but I thought that it was not a big deal. Back when they were new everyone thought that they did contain GN drivetrains. I frequented the race track a lot in the early 90's and can tell you first hand that the prototypes had GN engines in them. They only tested the Syclones preproduction. They the mules all ran in the low 12's IIRC. Buy the time the Syclones went to production they switched to the 4.3's it really seemed like a last minute decision based on availablity. I always thought that it was strange that they never broght one out with the 4.3 it just went straight to production as far as we knew. I suppose I couold have missed it, but I remember it being discussed back in the day.

The Syclones/Typhoons also used a water based intercooler instead of the air to air intercooler like the 3.8 Turbo's. I'm not aware of any other vehicle out there to use that type of water intercooled set up from the factory. I'm sure using that set up on the test mules alone took alot of R&D.
