Don't Sell Your Car With A Dirty Engine Bay

I went to a cruise-in a few days ago and there was a GN there for sale, looked at it on the outside and the interior as well and it looked great. But the guy raised the hood and the engine bay was really dirty. And it was a fairly low mile car. He wanted 17k or so for it. It sure would look better with a clean engine and help the sale.

There was a Fiero Indy Car there as well.
 
I think that some folks genuinely don't think that a clean engine bay matters.

I've seen beautiful vettes for sale with immaculate interiors and exterior panels, but when you see the engine bay of what you thought was going to be pristine is covered in crap...such a let down. Deal breaker for sure.

Nice Fiero, I had a 5spd GT. Brings back memories.

Looks like a Syclone in the pic, yours?

Ya that is my Syclone. I guess one of the things that sold me on it was the clean engine bay!
 
Your Sy's engine bay is sweet! I'm sure the rest is too.

Dad had one and my friend's dad currently has one. He is looking for a Ty right now. PM if you ever here of any for sale.

I will let you know if I see a TY for sale. There was a black one that sold here a months back.
 
This is a very good point. Take as much pride in your engine bay as the rest of the car. Indication of a detail oriented owner.:thumbup:

The engine bay tells the entire story usually....On the flip side, don't clean it just because I'm coming to look at it either :) Either its been kept clean all it's life or it hasn't....I've turned down cars just because the engine bay was just professionally steam and chemical cleaned the day I got there to look at the car, it was obvious...on one occasion I specifically said do not clean the engine bay, leave it as the pics were on the net.
