Hello, fellow gearhead looking to get his hands on an 89 TTA.I have some questions relating to these cars and could use whatever help you guys can afford.

First are there any guidelines as to the value of these cars?

Second,how important is the documentation?Like the cassette,owners kit,key chain,floor mats,etc.

Third,what troulbe areas should I look for?Rust around T-tops,spoiler cracking,seat rub through,etc?

Thanks

Hello Wannabee,

Value is difficult to say but one with low miles...say around 5.000 miles in mint, totally stock maybe...$15-20.000 hard to tell since some guys are dumping the prices, but you can find one "cheap" if you just take your time and look around.

Important with documentation? Huh? Owners kit is not any documentation, but if the car doesn?t have one and you want to have one, take $500 off the price they want for the car.
Owners kits is also hard to find.
There was also some papers that should come with the car.

The rear spoiler is known to crack.
Leather seats to have small cracks.
Oil leak in the rear main sealing and at the filter.
When you shift from P to R or D little clunknoice is coming from the rear, nothing to worry about...all have it.

Production #

T-top and leather: 1.324
T-top and cloth: 187
Hardtop and leather: 24
Hardtop and cloth: 15

There is also one conv. made from the production cars.
There was also 150 or 160 festival cars and they should bring a higher price.

You can look at ebay or hemmings, there is always some for sale there.

Thanks,I just found one in Hemmings with 5,200 miles that sold for 16,500 last month.I spoke with the seller today.Window stickers, build sheets, owners kit, decal box, etc. So your rite on the money

I have found 2-15k mile,1 37k mile,1 68k mile."If" the 15k mile one had the documents the 68 k one had....But not many out there in unmolested condition.

I owned an 87 GN so I'm very familiar with the motor and the oil probs.

Any books out there that give $$$ guidelines for this car?

I'm trying to make an as educated decision as possible as to the purchase price. How much less than the $15-20K figure does the car depreciate after 20k,30k,40k,50k,miles etc?
