How much does your TTA engine jump around when put in reverse?

Not sure how much all your engines "jump around" in the engine bay when you put it in reverse but mine really moves so want your opinion if this is normal or not.

I got all new motor mounts and trans mount (after market rubber style so should be close to OEM mounts) with about 700 miles on them, nothing is loose (bolts etc) ...

I took two movies where I rev the engine a few times and then go from park to reverse 3 times in total and you can really see the engine move around ... let me know if this is normal or if I should start to trouble shoot???

I did have the same kind of twist of engine whit my old OEM 100.000 miles engine mounts as well ...

800 seems about right. do you still have a stock D5 converter? I would suspect too low a stall speed unless you sure it's a D5 or higher stall converter.
Not real sure how much the motor jumps around, have had a tie down strap for years and never really was outside to look when it was dropped into D or R.
Sorry not much help.

To me, it doesn't seem too much, I'll look at mine. I'm putting the Trans back in starting this weekend and If I get it done and started I'll take note of it.

I got a pats 3000 rpm stall speed converter ... probabrly more like 2800. Putting it in drive is fine is just when put in reverse it really bounces around and I can hear something hitting as well (exhaust I beleive) ...

My OEM mounts did the same thing after 75-100 milesDontKnow: You need the torque strap to PULL DOWN like on the GN's on the driver side. Your passenger side mount is fine like mine was. Ours hooks to the hole in the crossmember from an eyebolt off the alternator.

:dumb:I never understood why some owners hook it horizonally and not straight down like on the GN's. Try it Jan, hook it tight. Strap should lay in between the front two cyclinders on the driver side into the crossmember hole.

I am sure it would do it anymore. I'll betcha!

The bar is not controlling the motor from twisting just stops it from rising from what I am seeing.

You mean my strut tower brace??

I might try a tie down strap on the driver side but not sure if that will help as it's the passanger side moving the most ...

I know your pass. side moves more... so did mine till I got the strap. Seems weird but it works.

Eyebolt will be inserted on the back side of the alternator of course. Not in front like the GN.

You will have to lift the car to attach the hook in the hole at the bottom crossmember. You can't see the hole unless you jack the TTA.
Latch it tight!

Were you able to find the correct drivers side engine mount? If you used an aftermarket or right side mount, that would be your problem and the strap should solve the problem. Just remembering what John from Johns Performance talked about years ago.

Glenn, the engine mounts for both sides are identical from GM .. they both started as the same part number then the driverside one just had one of the metal tabs grind down for clearnece and hence the driver side having a different part number compared to the passanger side. But they both start as the same identical part so no difference in rubber used or anything else that was just a myth .... the person that got the original blueprints confirmed this.

I'll look at getting some sort of strap installed on the driver side to see if that would make a difference or not, just not a big fan of doing it as it ruing the look of my engine bay

:Iagree:

Never remember Johns Performance talking about the issue but... I pulled out what hair I had left.. trying to figure the same problem you are having. I replaced the motor mounts and within 70 miles it was doing it again:furious: Put the strap on and no more worries:hooray:

Believe me on this Jan. Your TTA will feel some much tighter and smoother.

Poly mounts would fix it BUT you will hate the vibration they give along with the 300-400 dollars:read:. Strap works the BEST!!!

Do not hook the strap to the shock tower. Worked for many but not me. You need the strap to pull straight down.

Thanks for clearing that up, I understand what you mean by the "look" of the strap. Maybe you can do something more "stelthy" at the motor mount.
I'll try to look more at how much "jumpng" happens on my "unstrapped" car.

Pssssss. Looks better than the strap that attaches to the shock tower brace.:gay:

Racket part is behind the alternator... Does not look bad at all!

I think this is Julio's engine if I am not mistaken. I also think that is Jason's heat shield which he sold to Julio.:dirol:

See the strap. Not bad huh?
