I have a stock car and the car had a thrasher chip in it. Everybody told me that Eric was the best and I needed to get a chip for a stock car from him and it will run much better.

So far I'm not impressed, I think the car doesn't pull very hard and is slower than when it had the thrasher chip in there.

Any advice from Eric or anyone else. The car has 49k I run 93 octane, It just feels like a 14 second car. It run smooth, it just feels like when your on the gas its fat and pulls slow. It seemed that when the thrasher chip was in the car it would pull real hard off the line and sound more like a scream.

The stock boost gauge reads about 15lbs of boost under wot

Do you have a scanmaster in the car? You might have been pulling hard before but knocking like crazy. Need some numbers off a scantool to see what it's doing. I had him make a chip for my bone stock TTA. When going WOT from a dead stop my car would not break the tires loose. After Eric's chip it's hard to control the car it blows the back tires apart. So his chips are really good but anything is possible!

now I have the opposite reaction, the thrasher chip would smoke the tires and with erics chip it barely breaks them loose. I don't have a scanmaster tool, I know what they are and should get one, but I'm not sure on the intention of this car yet. I am putting it for sale in a month or so and if I can get 17 or so for it I will sell it. Its a 49k car that is very clean. I just wanted to maximize the stock set up. I am going to put a new o2 sensor in thinking that it probably is original. The wires are newer, the plugs are newer, it has a cold air kit, adjustable fuel regulator.

What pressure do you set your fuel at with his chip?

Hmmm seems strange. I almost wonder what that thrasher chip was doing. A friend of mine had one of those in his T type. We put the ScanMaster in and he was getting all kinda knock from it. It's really hard to tell what's going on with these cars without a scantool. I take my TTa to maybe a dozen shows a year and I have one in it they are just that handy.

Fuel pressure should be 42psi at operating temp with the vac line off. Check Eric's site he has a PDF to download and look at for all the settings on his chips.

What did the boost go to with the Thrasher? Boost with TT is 15 psi correct?
Stock is 16psi. Have your tried the stock chip again?

I have a stock gauge so its hard to see but I never paid much attention to it. I just have read how bad the stock chip is and I never had it in the car. When I bought the car it had the thrasher chip and I didn't like the security feature, other than that the car ran pretty good, I think it might have been knocking at higher speeds because it got a little nose heavy at about 65-70 when I was on the throttle.

Will the scanmaster show boost?

Scanmaster won't show boost but it will show knock and your O2's. These alone can be very helpful tuning the car. You'll want to check all the settings on the scanmaster with the chart it will come with to see if everything is within specs.

If your going to sell it, then I guess I wouldn't worry about getting a boost gauge, but It's no secret that the factory gauge is not even a little close to a vdo or autometer gauge that is specifically plumbed to the turbo when accuracy is in question. They are way slow to read and then way slow to let off.

wheres the best place to by a boost gauge? I bought a scanmaster, I don't mind buying a few things, I want to make the car perfect before I sell it. So that means making it run top notch. Is it easy to install as a temporary thing, like run it into the car not mount it, use it then remove it after I know the car is funtioning properly?

You can mount it with a general style gauge mount to an existing bolt under the dash. I used to have mine mounted near the stereo with the mount that came in the kit. Since moved it to the pillar. This kit doesn't come with a mount, but you can get them from many vendors.

what else do I need, like where does it connect to on the turbo?? or do I need tubing to run? I know I sound like a total rookie, I just have never messed with a turbo car

so I just ordered the tubing I need, where do I tie into the tubing in the engine compartment? I'm gonna run it inside the car and have a temporary mounting for diagnostic purposes
