Locking Lug Nuts Socket Missing

Guys,

I am finally getting around to detailing my two recent TTA additions.....my 560 miles leather car...and my 310 mile cloth car I purchased on E-Bay recently.

The issue on both cars is that neither seller had the factory locking lug nut socket needed to remove the lug nut on each wheel...so I now have two TTAs that I can't remove any wheels if I had to.

I was thinking of calling a local Chevy dealer here in Orlando Florida and ask the parts department is they kept an assortment of GM locking lug nut sockets on hand to see if I could use them to get my locking lug nuts off. Surely, their service department has run into this issue in the past and maybe keeps various lug nut masters on hand.

I don't want to risk beating up the wheels or having to break off a wheel stud.....any thoughts from other TTA owners on this issue? Thanks all. Jerry Kircher

I'm not sure on the TTA, but on other GM's the wheel locks were from mcgard. You could try to verify that and contact them and they would likely have a key

Amcor is the brand, if you got the card with the serial number you can order the key.

I would just remove them and buy a new set as they are on ebay cheap most of the time.

I use a cheap 12pt socket and drive it on the locks with a hammer and put normal nuts back on. I hate those things

On my first TTA 20 years ago, I went to the dealer and they identified the key and sold me one. There are only 8-12 keys. 4 years ago I got a key from Amcor. Lucky for me their office is about 6 miles from me. They came out to the parking lot with the assortment of keys and found the correct one. I had a set removed by Belle Tire on another car. I think the clearance room on the TTA makes this an undesirable option.

Look thru all your stuff for the code card. I found the card stuck in the owners manual on my Impala SS after I had the lock nuts removed at Belle Tire. You may get lucky and find a dealer with a kit. The last option would be to call Amcor and see how much it would be to buy all the possible keys and just return the ones you don't need.

With that low mileage on those cars I understand your concern.
