would like to put a LS1 in this truck of my grandsons some day--we would save the original V6-4 speed combo:cheers:

I just bought a 5.3 Gen III truck motor, complete w/harness and everything. has 60K miles. It's commonly called the Vortec family but it is also known as the LS truck, or iron block LS engines. I've been wanting one since I saw a show on HP T.V. about these being excellent engines for forced induction and more sturdy than the LS aluminum blocks for use in forced induction.

Now I need to find a home for it....

there are a lot of older cars and trucks in excellent shape out here:cheers:

My dream is to buy another '86 2+2 aerocoupe and put it in that. But I'm also thinking a 78-87 G/P or grand lemans station wagon for a sleeper car.

Reason is, is that those Pontiac GP dashes lend themselves to aftermarket gauge swaps very nicely.

I do have the '92 Trans am convertible but a 4th gen engine swap requires some mighty expensive hardware to complete.

And that....would cut into the TTA's budget.

Oh man, does that truck bring back memories. My first vehicle was a '66 Chevrolet 3/4 ton truck........never drove it one the road, but man did I have fun learning how to drive a manual (3 on the tree) in the fields behind our house.

Nice looking truck, Good luck with the conversion!!
