maf pipe suggestions/help

currently my tta has a dryer type hose going from the back of the turbo to the MAF sensor then to a K&N filter. The guy I bought the car from also gave me a original air box set up but I dont care for that either. I would like a hard pipe from the back of the turbo to the MAF. What are you guys using? Does not seem to be any out there for this specific application. I spoke with GN performance and he suggested a 3" gn MAF pipe..has anyone used this will it work??

Thanks in advance ........
Chad

the one gn performance suggested is there 3" but is has a shape of a slight s soooo Im not sure if that will work..

This is what I have, it was on my TTA when I got it. Don't know who makes it, but it works fine and it has the proper bend to clear the alternator. It originally had the dryer type hose with it but I changed that!

Update... I spoke with the speed shop that worked in my vette and they said they have plenty of material and the equipt to fab one. So as soon as spring breaks and the roads r clear I will have one made then paint it black. I will post pics at that time. If anyone else is in the issue lets talk and I'm sure they can fab mor than 1. Price will be very reasonable as we r gun trading friends. Lol

the RJC 3 inch maf pipe works well and is also longer than others which looks great.

Do you have a couple of pics of it installed in a TTA. Just the bend looks pretty sharp compared to the TTA custom made ones available to us years ago that I have on mine.

I had the rjc maf pipe on both 733 and 366 and they fit well.
That was a few years ago, now 366 even has the rjc 4" pipe and it fits no problems, I think I posted pics of that somewhere. With the 4" pipe you need the angled iac valve.

The 3" Maf pipe by RJC does work. Angles are correct Jan. Surprised..

Mine came in around 4"-5" away from say the washer fluid tank. But the angles are CORRECT. If you put a coupler and stock maf it SHOULD reach where it needs to be... (clear everything and put a standard 9" cone air filter in a good spot).

I am running SD. Didn't measure but I took a great mental picture.lol

Yep, you did Jarred. I saved it to my computer. Nice work...

They are different lengths between the 3" and 4" maf pipes but angles are correct on both pipes. Jason makes the pipe extra long (cut and fit) for GN guys which benefits US!

RJC Racing is great!

Just hard to picture which way it will point when installed and rotated correctly to clear everything properly ... looks like a really nice piece and with many TTA owners asking where to get one these days its good to know there's a quality piece out there that do fit.

Sorry no I don't have any pictures the car is stored away.It fits well and yes it does have a sharp bend,i see a few other members have them connected to a KN filter which works great.Mine goes all the way to the air box which it doen't line up even if you try to clock the top of the air box,so I had to buy a 22 degree elbow modify that and then it would work.:burnrubber:

Lines up perfectly between the washer tank and coolant hose but 4" or so away. That is what surprised me Jan. That is the toughest part to get right. Kinda figured it would clear the alt. bolt.

I still like the Pete Tomka Hose the best.

I see your a Colts fan. I used to own Festival #14 that was driven by Bob Lamey . He is the announcer of the Colts and was one of the announcers at the 89 Indy 500.
I talked to him about my car and he remembered the car being "Very Fast"... Anyway, just a tid bit.

What injectors did you end up getting?

Well I decided to go with 42# injectors after talking with Eric. I just decided to change them since there 25 years old. I don't plan on putting any more power to her other than stock. 42# were the smallest ones he had and said it will work fine.

I do have a plan to change the fuel pump since its the original as well but I was told to drop the tank is a pain and you have to bend the filler neck when you drop it. I do have a lift so I need to do some more research or get guidance from anyone who's done it before.....or do I just wait till the original go out.?!

It's not that bad if you have a lift, to me the real PITA was the exhaust and you can do it w/o bending the neck... and you don't want to wait for it to go out as you risk blowing the motor at the same time if it happens at the wrong time..

After reading this all I could think about was that original nylon gear for the timing chain that is old and could go out. This is another thing that one should consider, if it goes out it could cause major engine damage!:bash:

I would install a new fuel pump right away like Rob says, would be disastrous if it failed while your in big boost.

The nylon timing gear is not to tough of a swap, just time consuming and meticulous. Another good mod to do before its to late. I think that is such a poor design, a nylon gear???
