i kinda wondered that too. it would seem more appropriate to do it to the back ones. (they look goofy if you just swap the fronts and the backs though, fyi)
The fronts have a true zero offset...the rears have a 16mm offset.
The story that I've heard is the 1LE brake package combined with the turning radius up front caused serious rubbing issues with the 16mm wheels. This was discovered later in development, and the zero offset wheel was an emergency design change to help remedy the problem.
But perhaps somebody with more facts could chime in.
Now, as I had my wheels redone just this spring, and went with four "fronts" all around, that even if you do that the rears will sit approximately 6mm inboard of the fronts. Yes, it does look much better (IMO the factory rears just look goofy), but measuring from fender lip to edge of tire still leaves them inboard a measurable distance. Thought about putting a spacer on the rear, but the factory studs don't look long enough to have enough thread engagement to make me comfortable. And frankly the departure angle of the quarter panel going rearward really doesn't support moving the rears out another 6mm...I think that may look goofy too as too much of the tire would be exposed from a rear view.
well after searching for about an hour i found a web site that has a GN wheel which is the same as the tta but in black in a 16x10 and they would be willing to make the rim in any back spacing u want, only bad thing is that they are dam expensive ($425 plus a core) each rim and they are in black.

Took me 6 months to find 4 "fronts" that were restorable (I kept the originals as-is and stored them away) and have them re-done...and I made a point to do in inexpensively for less than $100 a wheel...takes time and dedication but it can be done.
Had them sodium stripped, powder coated a similar color to the code 55 gold (they evidently don't make a mass produced powdercoat 55 gold, so I got as close as commercially possible), machined back the bare aluminum to where it should be, and then powdercoated clear over the top of it all.
A shade less than $900 into four new wheels total after the restoration.
