I want to change my oil and put Royal Purple in. But I dont know what I have in there now. (It hasn't been changed since I bought it in Nov) Is there anything I should do to make sure I get all of the old oil out of the turbo? This sounds like a dumb question, and Im sure Im over thinking this. I work on Cadillacs and can take a 2000 and up DeVille apart with my eyes close but When it comes to my own car especially this one I want to be 100% positive of everything. Thanks

if the car has been sittin for winter most of the oil has probably drained down as good as you're gunna get it. You're never gunna get all the old oil out unless you're completely rebuilding it. Even with a little bit of old oil in there you won't have to worry about it because it'll be such a small amount in comparison to the new oil.

Try a couple seconds, and that is a long time....Try running with no cartilage....yeah grind grind grind...That would feel awesome...Anywat you are also wrong about the oil filtering out of the filter. If you change your oil, you notice that the filter is always full of oil even after sitting for months...It is a simple task that makes it easier on the motor...almost ignorant not too...off my soapbox..72firebird said:

With the amount that most people add which is about 1/4-1/2 of the oil filter the oil pump will pump that amount in less than 1/4 of a second. You have no advantage to filling the lines or anything, everything will just happen that less than 1/4 of a second that you gain from putting the oil in the filter. The pump will start pumping, filling everything until it gets to the oil filter which is when it will pick up that less than a 1/4 of a second ahead and will just stay that far ahead through the rest of the process. Your car goes through much more abuse.
One thing I do every time I start the TTA (when it hasn't been started in a day or more) is disconnect the ECM wire and crank the car till I see the oil pressure gauge show pressure. This is also something you can do when you change the oil rather then putting oil in the filter you'll just have to crank a few extra times to get it filled and have pressure. I'll put a little bit in the filter when I'm putting it back on but that's about it.

The DCV sat in the shop at Triad for weeks on end and I would suppose that in the winter months the Block Heater was used. TTA owners are welcome to visit if you are in the Atlanta area, see the block heater first hand.

All you do in knock out a frost plug in the side of the engine block and install the block heater, which is nothing more than a frost plug with a heating element on it........so that when it's plugged in, it keeps the coolant in the engine block warm. Most vehicles in cold climates have them.
