Contrary to popular beief, it is not necessary to remove or even loosen the fender to complete the job. Remove the wheel shroud and you have plenty of access, if you don't mind working in tight places. The antenna repair part is still available from GM for under $25 dollars and it comes with installation instructions. My antenna was stuck almost fully extended and did require me to disassemble prior to extraction. This requires drilling the rivots out to open the motor case. Once you separate the motor from the mast, it comes out easy. Another trick I learned that is not in any instructions is: cut the wires leaving plenty of tail on the motor then make you a test wire that will be long enough to operate the antenna on the ground near the car. When you reassemble antenna, fully extend it, then hook the test wire up and let the motor wind the nylon cord verses trying to wind it yourself and fight it to go back into the case. It worrked perfectly. Then just reassemble and splice your wires back together. I actually lengthened mine in case I every have to do it again.....
