Speaking of TTA values; 99 mile original ...

I think these people are nuts for selling so soon! These cars haven't hit 20 years yet. I'm sure the people that sell these low mile all original unmolested cars will kick their self in the pants when they blow up like the GNX did. It's still a buyers market for them. Another big issue is the car market is real soft now. To many people have to plan for vacation and that chews up all the toy money! :)
 
I wish I didn't have so much money tied up in other cars ... I think the best gamble (they are gambles still) is the original low-mileage TTA cars. There's only so much money to throw around, and with a wife and 3 kids it seems to be sucked up faster than I would like it to be :-)
 
Your telling me! I want all the low mile ones. Now if I can only find some free money and a place to keep them all for free! One of these days I'll figure out a way! :eam: :read: :dance:
 
Awesomely low! Go check out the 1,000 mile 79-80 Z28s on eBay right now. They are running $25K and up with 5-6 days left to go. I've owned lots of those cars, and it's hard to imagine them selling for more than a no miles TTA. Must be the age thing ...
 
I was at the auction and yes it did sell for that. HOWEVER there were some strang issues with the car and things that didnt seem right for the car. The car was not mint in a lot of ways. It had several door dings all over the car. The hood had a good size dent in it also.. The engine bay look like things had been moved at one time. Wheels were peeling etc So yes it was a good price but I would not have bought it had I had the money..
 
Froste31, you made my day with that post! Thanks for filling in the details that were missing for those of us not there that day. I knew (hoped!!) there was something else that kept the value of that particular TTA down. I didn't want to believe it would be worth just over $30K ...

Some of these cars might show low miles but like any car they can have a shit load of skeletons in the closet! I know of several low mile TTA's that seem to be all stock and original but several of them are former race cars with many more miles then the speedo reads! :shock: Unless you buy the car new you'll never know the real truth behind any car!

I had many friends back in 87 who bought GN's brand new. Most of them all pulled the speedo cable off as soon as they got it home! One of them sold his GN in 91 with about 9K on the clock. He kept it very well garage kept and detailed but there was over 70K on that car! Everyone in the area knew it but someone paid all the money for it thinking they just bought a mint GN with 9K on it. Most of the 70K was a 1/4 mile at a time no less. To buy one of these cars your really need to go over them with a fine tooth comb. I still can't figure out how people pay all that money for a GNX from a picture in an auction on the internet. I've seen plenty of cars on eBay that in person didn't look half as good as they did in the pictures! Digital cameras can be very good to most cars!
 
That's why I would never mod a TTA if I had one. Collectors want unmolested cars. I would never buy a TTA or any collectors car that had even the simplest mods (IE. exhaust, intake). In my eyes there is only one reason for the mods, to go FASTER, which means the chances are the car has been beaten. My buddy had a TTA stock and when he eventually sold it he took a loss 2k because the mods he had (exhaust, Intake and chip) scared potenital buyers away.

I dont buy cars for investments. That is what stocks are for.

I never buy anything with the thought of what someone else will one day pay for it
 
We all buy for different reasons - I make money on these cars, but I still don't call them 'investments' unless you know what you are doing ... And willing to lose some while winning on others. In that way, it is like stocks.

One thing I like about the low mileage original great condition cars - They are better than money in the bank. Unlike stocks, you at least know (or almost know) that you can't lose money. So it's the best of all worlds to me.
