Spoiler Mount cracking - solutions?

Hello:

I'm in the process of looking at 2 TTA's - both low miles - one with cracking in the rear wing mounts and one without.

1) What is the solution to these cracks? What is the cost?

2) Will the other low mileage car eventually have that cracking if it hasn't so far?

The reason I ask is that I want to know how much to adjust the price down for the one that has the cracks.

Thanks

Phil

Yes, pretty much all the stock spoilers will crack, just give them time. The solution is to get a fiberglass replacement.

Thanks for the heads up! I don't see the paint job on it but $400 plus paint plus install should be under $1,000 to get it done. Give me an idea. Thanks again.

here is the link to the thread of someone installed it by himself:

i don't know how much it will cost to you for the install + the paint job but it will be under $1000.

maybe you should ask to the guy who did it himself i think he will be more able than me to answer.

Where are the cars that you're looking at? If they're not very far from me I'm willing to give a second opinion for you. Feel free to PM me if you want.

As for the spoiler, if they bother have the original spoilers than you might as well include it in the price of both. It's not a question of if the original spoiler will crack, but when. I've seen cars with less than 5k miles on them that have been sitting in a climate controlled garage with cracked spoilers. I've seen about 30-40 TTAs in person, and out of all of those cars only 1 had the original spoiler uncracked and it had like 400 miles on it.

Thanks Jared. two of the cars I'm looking at are in Mich (one with 20k miles and the other with 74k) and the other is in Washington Illinois. The two I haven't seen are over 4 hours from you ... but I do thank you anyhow for your generous offer.

Great info on the Spoiler. I'll keep you guys informed with the car I buy. I'm already buying pieces and collectible stuff. I will get one of these cars soon ... wish it would have been before Woodward but the Illinois car is not moving fast because of a lost title.

Oh well ... it'll be the Goat for Woodward Wed night, Thursday night, very late Friday night (busy earlier) and all day Saturday!!!
