A completely stock 84 TA is going to attract more attention than that custom yellow bird. I dont see them selling that for anything close to what they have in it.

My point exactly, stock early 3rd gen TA's are bringing decent money now. Although, I think the backs of the front seats were recovered on this one. The color is a little off-the MSE has the same interior-its in better shape. If this one was a 4 speed it would bring even more-but I dont think you could get manual with crossfire in 82.

Agree, or stockish appearing, but this is just a bad idea. Gives nice 3rd gens a bad rep.
 
I think that car must have been made specifically for Ronald McDonald! Looks like something he would drive. lol

It is a 1/4 mile track...they use it for big NHRA races...but you need to really look at the categories to see where you'd fit in. I did notice that one class, X275, is based on 1/8 mile. It "looks" as though the rest are 1/4 mile.

Yeah the winner in x275 gets 2k, i have no idea what that little ta60 85ar will do, maybe low 12's with 110 oct. Heard the old saying "hell and half of Georgia"?, well i'm in middle Ga. and it's 2hr one-way there :eeks:

I guess to each his own, but have you ever drove a miss-fire, sorry cross-fire car? yea they only made about 13thou (thats a good thing IMO) that yr, put them in the vett as well (84/85). what gets me is the ad states "a true american muscle car" come on man, be for real. if someone likes it great but don't call a kitten a tiger :whistle: unless 0-60 in ten minutes is what you call fast

Yup - I still own one.
It's a part of history. There were not too many cars from the 80's that were fast.
It's kind of like the Monte Carlo and Trans Am you used to own. They couldn't get out of their own way, but that's not really why you owned them.:cool1:

Nope-that's not why i owned them, but it may have something to do with why i no longer have them. the 305-ho M.C with the trans and 373 gear was not a bad performer stock for the yr, not trying to bad -mouth anyone's car but i would never call that 88'MC a muscle car either, it is what it is ;a 88 M.C with a 305

I totally agree-historical but not fast. But is that all that matters? People tend to get too hung up on that. The 80's were bad for car companies-lots of pressure to reduce emissions, save fuel, etc. The whole concept behind the introduction of the third gen TA was the aerodynamics. Not the speed. It was a new and fresh body design. The 3rd gens take a lot of bashing, but if they were that bad they would not have sold well and so GM continued making them for 10 yrs. The worst car of the 80's IMO was the Yugo. Anybody remember those POS?

A rare chevette..lol. My wife had a diesel chevette, yeah like they needed better gas mileage, it was 1 of only 2 in Texas and most dealers had no idea how to work on them back then, being the mid to late 80's
