TTA 1078 Alive August 4th !!!!

Still tuning to be done as it idles at around 2500 rpm ..... great oil pressure (maybe a bit high? 60 psi .... got a high volume oil pump) .... transmission fluid leak need to be sorted and a few other minor issues ..... tuning is next on the list ....

This has been a more anticipated event than the Olympics!! And it seems like a success!!!


I bet if you get it out on the road and put 20 minutes on it, it will setlle down into a better idle than 2500. I'm always surprised how "learning" the ECM does after a major change has been made.
 
Congrats! I'm really hoping I can make a fancy video of my own in about two weeks.

Now we are all waiting for the video of the first burnout and the first quarter mile times.

I was in suspense waiting for you to turn the damn key on!!! lol Sounds gooood! That's cool you made the video! I did that with my GN too. You'll look back on that video in 10 years and say wow that was 10 years ago! :) Dail that baby in! Sounds like you are running the same oil pressure spring as the one I use in my GN. It cold starts at 60 and usually runs around 20 to 50 once it's warmed up. As long as your not hitting 100 on cold start you'll be fine with that pressure. It should come down a little as she breaks in more and more!

Had my wife take loads of video's, she thought I was mad :devil:, fun the way you can edit and cut the videos .... one clip on me reaching for the key ... another clip turning the key (clos-up) but not actually starting the engine at this time .... then the clip just on the engine and this is when I fire it up the first time around.

I used the recommended (yellow I believe) standard spring for the oil pump, it's a proper high volume pump and front cover all blue printed before I installed it. Primed the oil pump (gears packed with Vaseline and then using a electrical drill with a priming tool) while still in the engine stand to see I got oil all the way up through the push rods and also check for any leaks, could then install and set the cam sensor properly as well using caspers tool to get it properly aligned (must have worked as it started up on the first attempt).

Charged my good old laptop with Turbolink 4.0 on it the other day so will get started tuning tomorrow and also run the engine properly at operating temperature for a while to make sure it all works with no leaks and also watch the oil pressure settle in a bit. Got my scan tool in the car as well.

Still a few bits to install as I took the front bumper off to get the damn engine lift close enough.

Load of nice custom made stuff on there as well, all stainless hard fuel lines, all stainless power steering cooler lines, all stainless transmission cooler lines and other bits and pieces. Will be interesting to see how well it performs when I put the first 500 miles on it and look at the oil after the first 50 miles or so. I got a full roller cam/lifter/rockers setup so no need for the normal break in procedure like you do with a flat tapped cam setup.

Congrats Jan... Why did you take it apart in the first place ???

Just wanted something to do :-)

Bearings gone, bent rod, bent valves and some other "minor issues" .... and as I had to take it out I went crazy sorting everything else to better than new standards :-)
