It is your car, do what you wish. Depends on what your intentions for it are. Stock resto's will always bring more $ than cars with mods-whether engine mods or appearance mods. The paint is a tough call. You could talk to bravesoul1, she had her car repainted non stock appearing. My car has been repainted and partially restored, but it was done to look stock. BTW, the engine bay looks fairly clean, that always helps.
 
The engine compartment looks in great shape compared to the exterior paint. A Black TTA would be pretty cool and make a lot of people here jealous.
 
I would clean it up and worry about the paint work later, you need to see what else needs to done before then. Start making a list as you check things.

It looks like it has sit outside for sometime, probably in the northeast. You will probably need all new seals around the t-top area, take them off to inspect them and possible rust there. The list goes on and on, but do one thing and then move to the next one.

The engine bay looks better than the rest of the car, I would get a scanmaster first thing to monitor the engine. I would not drive around the block without one now.

Alot of your things were the same for me at first. Like the missing bolt in the Turbo Shield, which is probably stripped out threads. And this can be repaired by a tool and die set.

Like you said, do the brakes first. And I would put it on a rack and inspect the undercarrage.

Also the hose coupler adjacent to where the engine oil cap is. I would put a small breather on that to keep from getting debris in the engine. It might have a screen in it but I would put a small breather on it.

Yes drove it easy about 10 miles home and was a bit rough, but I think it was old gas, so I put in 93 about 6 or 8 gallons to fill it, and it did run better. The chip says in red writing 93 on it.
But suspension and brakes first, and I'll sand down any rust not bad at all, but do need all new seals, t-tops, doors, everywhere.
 
It don't look that bad, at least it's a festival car!! that alone would stop me from changing color's but your car your choice. I do hope you change that hideous blue intake hose and like Mike said put a breather on the left valve cover, have fun! :clap:
 
Yes guys brakes and suspension first, its horrible. On the painting we will take everything apart going to do it right, and decided factory white, but in the clear might put in some gold flakes, not much just a hint.
When I get back from the gun shop, I will post some pics with some questions, couple things I need.
It doesnt have the spare tire and a few other things, but the power antenna WORKS! LOL
