TTA/GTA rims-fronts on rear and vice versa

When I found that I had bought a TTA with four rear wheels, I looked for some fronts and found they are relatively expensive, because a lot of owners like being able to rotate the tires. I haven't heard of anything bad about putting fronts on the rear, but if I turn sharply with my car, the tires scrape on something, so I assume that is the problem with having rear wheels on the front. If anyone knows of a couple front TTA wheels for a reasonable price, I would like to know.

I have been running the 4 fronts for 2 years now with no problems. As for finding some rims, in my travels, I see less and less original sets of 4 for sale. Maybe a rim or two here and there, but most of the time they are the rear one. Seems that the 17" repro's are becoming a replacement on some of the TTA's and GTA's as well. I dont have a lot of good pictures, but you can kind of see how the rears stick out a bit on this image. 20140705_201157.jpg
 
I've been finding that 16" tires are getting harder to find in the right size. I would love to talk to someone about refinishing my OEM wheels, putting them aside and running 17" or 18" reproductions. Has anyone done that?

thirdgenranch offers refinishing - as well as [probably] many others. I bought a full set of refinished stock wheels from them (price seemed good) and just kept the originals in the boxes. After a few years some "imperfections" seem to be showing, but they still look as good or better than the rest of #545.

If you want to try to DIY, I made a thread. Did mine several years ago. Lots of time involved, but turned out pretty good. Wheel refinishing project
