What is the difference between 'dimpled' and 'non-dimpled' wheels? The TTA has dimpled if I've heard u guys right?

Thanks

Phil

PS A photographic explanation would be awesome

In what way? That's the question I'm asking ... can someone point out what 'dimpled' wheels mean?

87 was the first year for these GTA wheels and they did not have the dimple .. I'll post some pictures when I have time to dig them out.

88 - 92 are all the same ... and do have the dimple ... and the gold color is slightly different. I believe GM changed supplier between 87 and 88 ....

If you look at the outside tip of the "flakes" you'll see the little indention.

Ah hah ... that was simple enough and I kinda thought it but until I saw the one without the dimples I couldn't be sure. Thanks so much for the pictures ... funny but I'm not sure I've seen the wheels without the dimples yet!

Are there date codes on the wheels?

One of the main differences is on the NON dimple rims the center hub was made much thinner then the dimpled rims. So if you are not careful the tire machines out there can stretch the center of the rim causing the center caps to fall off or not even go on at all. They also have been know to crack open at the center hub. That is why people want dimpled over non dimple.
