Value of TTA

New Member
I am a newbe to these boards so tell me where to go if I need to place it elsewhere...

I contacted this guy about an 89 TTA thats been sitting in his garage for 3 years, it has 92,000 miles, and he sais that he is afraid that someone would damage it, thats why he does not drive it. (sounds like it might be really clean) I have NOT seen the car, it was a contact that I made this past weekend that gave me the lead, but the contact said it was really clean.

Anyway, he offered it to me for $9000,

is that fiar, too high or a really great buy???

thanks

That sounds like the middle to low end of the current price range....That said, you need to know several important details about the car before you can stamp a value on it:

- Hardtop ot T-Top?
- Cloth or leather?
- Been modified and raced?
- How is the paint?
- General condition?
- Rust?
- Cracked Spoiler?
- T-Top leaks, water damage?
- Sqeaks?
- Emblems and hard to find hardware still intact?
- Owner's kit?

People here are more knowledgable than I about these cars, but, that is what I've learned so far....

Go to GNTTYPE.org and read their article on buying a TR.

http://www.gnttype.org/general/buyguide.html

There will be several important things to look for as you see and drive the Buick powered car. Many of the suggestions there are turbo and Buick LC2 specific.

Sounds like a quite normal price......
Check the t-tops with a water hose, and spray the water on the aft part of the t-tops.....look inside after water.
Owners kit is a black box that should be dilevered from the dealer with a cassete tape, key ring, tta supplement, window sticker and door stickers.
After some years use the special emblems on these cars loose the gold around the edges.
The rear wing starts to crack in the paint and also pieces falls off on the inside below the window.
Normal is that the cheap "leather" starts to crack.
Also check for oil leak from the rear main bearing sealing, guess all of them do.....

Good luck!

- Hardtop ot T-Top? T-top
- Cloth or leather? Leather
- Been modified and raced? Dunno
- How is the paint? Apparently nice
- General condition? Apparently nice
- Rust? Claimed None
- Cracked Spoiler? Unknown,
- T-Top leaks, water damage? Sitting in Garage
- Sqeaks? Dont they all?
- Emblems and hard to find hardware still intact? I think this on has the Indy Emblems on the Doors
- Owner's kit? Huh???

Here is my owners kit: http://medlem.spray.se/repotage/fourdescphotos2.html

On the doors you have stickers, on front bumpers emblems. Lowest is the Indy wing and above the list the TURBO Trans Am emblem. Since mine and a few more of the TTA?s was mounted with the incorrect bird between the tail lights make sure it?s the white 20 Anniversary bird there.

A tip is to visit fellow swede Jan Larsson and his great website! http://la.rsson.com/tta1078/

Hi John and Uffe!
John,
is this one of the cars you were talking about at the TA Nats?? What happened to the other car? It was great to chat with you at the TA Nats!!! I have checked out your website before. I'll get in touch with you alittle later this week. If you send me (email me) your phone number, I can even call you this weekend (God, I love free long distance minutes on the cell phone on the weekends!!!). Maybe we can work out a time or something. I loved your seats in your Formula!

Uffe,
How goes it, you taker of mighty fine young Swedish maidens! Ha!
You know that I have a small photo site up, don't you?
Just go to:
http://photos.yahoo.com/warbirdta
I've got some good shots there for everybody to see!
Too bad you couldn't make the Trans Am Nationals this year!!! It was pretty good! 572 cars!!! All Firebirds of all kinds!!! About five or six 20th TTAs!!!

Hi George!

Sorry, i can?t be all over the world at the same time, rather busy with our TA-club here with over 500 members now and gatherings and race every weekend. And then it?s also some money involved of course. But some day i?m gonna make it over there! And yes, i have your photosite.
HA! We don?t have any maidens here longer! Remember what the name of the city is where Jan lives in the UK??????
Maidenhead! That?s where you will find all the maidens!

John! Please make sure you also visit the "mother" of all 20th. Anniversary websitets! http://www.89tta.com/ rather big one with tons of info there so take your time and click around there.

Good luck and take care!
