What sad ending

Well no corporate America company gives a shit about its employees, thats just the culture right now. As far as what people want, tastes have changed alot in the last few years.

Not that it matters, but I just saw in muscle car review, that their going to stretch & rebadge the G8 for the new Caprice in 2011, buts its only going to be used for the police fleet of vehicles. I'm going to miss Pontiac, it was my favorite brand from GM.

Not quite the G8, but really close. From what I read it's a different model from Holden that is very similar but better suited for the task.

Here's the link to the article with pictures.

What's even worse is that apparently there was an excess of G8 parts so Holden will be selling "Special Editions" down under with all the G8 bodywork.

I say shame on GM for not giving Pontiac a proper sendoff!

RIP - PMD...
I could not let a once in a lifetime opportunity go past to grab what will be the last of the Pontiac inspired cars.. "still born" or what was to be .. .. Its will go into a warehouse now for a decade or two or three etc..
Bueatifull to drive.. 6lt Auto.. 4 x disc.. What a SHAME THE DICKHEADS in GM's liquidation department did not just HOLD Pontiac for a year ... see if Saturn sold.. rather then opening the pathway as they did for China to bring into Saturn dealerships their range of cars at a bargain price.. AT WHAT WILL TURN OUT TO BITE GM IN THE BUTT.. !
They can't sell Hummer.. can't really justify Buick... apart from holding it up so the Asian community might be inspired NOT to buy a Toyota...!... Couldn't sell Saab so they kill it.. Can't sell Open so it MAY YET GO..
... but the one with the most enthusiasm .. the most memories.. the most LONG TERM BRAND POWER.. PONTIAC.. .. urr.. at least they did not try to sell it to the Chinese...

Anyhow.. this is mine.. probably will not see that much use.. GM Holden has just released a few hundred of them.. abeit with Holden badges on them.. " 6.0L V-8 with fuel-saving Active Fuel Management technology and E85 capability delivers expected best-in-class 0-60 acceleration (sub six seconds) and top speed" This is what they SHOULD have been selling in North America.. It would have woken the dead Pontiac owners.... & the media.. GM Lives... "Pontiac Lives" .... a better headline them.. GM Kills Pontiac, trys to sell saturn and fails.. trys to sell Hummer to the Chinese. trys to Sell Saab to .. Anybody.. and fails.. Pontiac Lives would have been.. AND STILL COULD BE.. One Glimmer of a " New GM Recovering for the American People... "

Nice to see them using what was left over from the G8 and not just scrapping the parts. If it were here in the US, GM would just toss all the fascias in a scrap bin:( It looks good, they must have been close to introducing it here. Did you guys like the G8 fascias? I thought they were a little more plain looking than your Holden ones. My GXP so far has impressed the S$*! out of me! It was starting a Pontiac revival between it's street cred and the press. Like you said, to bad they didn't give it just one more year.

I saw a Ute model here in GA about a year or so ago. I didn't get a chance to chase it down in traffic but it definitely had the Holden front end and the wheels were similar to the G8 GXP from what I remember. Looked pretty good and makes it a unique car here for sure.

If possible i'll bring it to this years Woodward Cruise but thats a ways off yet.

The Pontiac treatment is not the "norm"... most of the muscle car guys go for the routine Chevy Bowtie treatment as found in the Middle East.. where they sold a huge bundle of V8 & V6 G8's as a Chevy Lumina.. also a Cop cars / Camel Chasers.. with a corvette 6ltr hi octane fuel using v8 special Cop edition...
the G8 ... the killing of Pontiac .. I guess "a dice roll was its timing" .. surely could not have been any intelligent thought gone into killing it.....!
