Going on my 7th year on my $30 walmart battery and I know it is pushin it's luck. I would hate for it to fail at an event.

What battery do you all run? I'm hard prssed to spend more than $30 since this one lasted so well.

I always hear Optimas are bad but my GTO has a red top and it has been solid the 2 years we have owned it.

I'm not sure what I'll run. What else do you guys run?

Joe, does your Optima fit right in? Dimension wise te optimas are a little bit bigger. Top and side posts?
 
There was an optima in my TTA when I got it. I put that in my 87 GN and an AC Delco in the TTA and that's been in there 3 years no issues.
 
I run a Delco too. It was close to $100 out the door. But I have always had good luck with Delcos.
 
using a battery tender will extend even the cheapest battery's...I use one on both the TTA & Fiero since neither get driven very much. Both battery's are cheap and over 5 years old...if they sit for a few weeks they will run down but with the tender no problem. Been using a $18 Schumacher tender from Walmart the last 4 years...works great.

I agree with that. Our one battery tender shuffles around between the cars, lawnmower, and moped. :sleep:

I didn't see any with the side terminals but under accessories they had these adapters. It looks like their top posts are screwed in.

The TTA uses a group 75 size battery. I'm currently using an AC Delco 75-6YR (part# 19001627) it has 650cca & fits perfectly. I'm also running the 2 bank battery tender (highly recommended) on both my TTA & DeLorean.

Why the "two bank" battery tender? Care to share the differences?

Thanks Simo and everyone. There is a battery store in my hometown and over the break I will go check them out.

I'll inquire about a group purchase as well. :cheers:

The 2 bank battery tender is the same as 2 single tenders put to geather in 1 unit. It can charge 2 cars at the same time. If you have 2 cars next to each other, in your garage that could use a tender, the 2 bank is the way to go. I got mine new off ebay for less than 100 bucks & free shipping. For more info, check out the Deltron battery tender web site, they have lots of cool stuff on there.
 
It's hard to keep good grades with all of the distractions. Been there...

How's Gainesville? What's the mood like post-Bama?

FWIW, I put in Diehards in both the TTA and GTA. They always last ~6-7 years. Expensive ($90) but worth it to me not to worry about.
