i have been driving my car a lot , when i first got it 22 mpg add the tt chip and i am at 14 mpg , whats up with that ? anyone have a good reason for this please let me know how to fix it ..
Yeah 1970GSX is probably right. At 22 mpg I'd guess that was almost all highway driving, I think the best I have gotten is around 25-26 mpg. In town though is a whole different story, I normally average around 12-15 mpg depending on how spirited the driving was on that tank.
No problem, that's what we're here for. I normal engine only runs on vacuum so the amount of air the cylinder gets is determined by a lot of stuff (valve over lap, head design, intake, etc) but it's limited by the maximum volume of the cylinder (it never fully fills though). When you have a turbo or supercharged system though you can force the air in, so if you're running at 1 bar (~14.7 psi) you would theoretically have twice the amount of air in the cylinder and you're going to need more fuel to burn it. This same principle applies to nitrous.
