bought another car...

The car was delivered last Thursday. Overall, under represented and very nice. Nothing is broken except the clock and the car is decently tight. The brakes are good, but they fade after 2 hard stops. The steering isn't as responsive as I like but it still turns! Guess I am spoiled as dad says this is better then what they were. Anyways, all that will be upgraded.

Put 550 miles on it the last few days just making sure it drove ok before we race it and then tear it apart. It gets great MPG. 6.6 one tank and 8.3 another tank. Joe, are you still sold on the 455 with a blower? Granted, it probably could use a tune up and get 12 or something.

Shitty iphone pic.

Yes, I am still sold a Buick 455 with a Procharger. They are cheaper to build than a Buick V6 Stage motor as well. Yes.. not the most efficient motor but they are more practical.

A friend of mine has a stock Buick 455 in a Regal swap. He has run 12.7X @ 109-110. Not to shabby. Betcha it would whooop the newer GTO or stock 4th Gen Camaro/TA with almost 30 years of tech behind.

I know the newer LS motors are 1500-2000HP capable. But... I like what I like.:kissass:

Quote me where I said a Buick Stage motor is cheap. :o

And that is what keeps the car scene interesting! If everyone had a Chevy 350 in a tubbed Nova running 10.5 after 10.5 after 10.5 with autometer gauges and a black paint job, I would pick up basket weaving.

 haha

I'm not hating.. just picking bro :cheekiss:

Good luck! I am sure whatever you do with that TA will be the best(like always).

Gotta go to work now... Later Gator

Joe

Parts are now showing up! Vintage air came a few days ago as well as some exhaust parts. That being said, the car hasn't moved in awhile and the project is snowballing. Ya...it won't be done as soon as I wanted.

Interior is coming out tomorrow so that will be some progress. Now to figure out what seats to put in.

Well, the car has a sweet modification I found. If you want to see the road as you are driving, just remove the carpet.

:crazy::wall::drop:

Finalized the motor mods, wiring harness, and intake details yesterday. Picking it up the end of July.

Also, have a dummy 4L80E case I used to see if the trans would fit. Well, it won't without cutting. So, I am going to have to cut the floorpan toward the tailshaft of the tranny. Shouldn't be too bad. I'll cut and someone else can rebuild that area.

Any ideas for gauges? Both of us can't seem to settle on a gauge...Kinda leaning toward the Stewart Warners at the moment.

Powder coat those valve cover now while it's easy!! Those things go to hell in no time and it's impossible to get in there and polish them once all the crap is on! Other then that looks slow to me! :fuckkk:

We aren't using those valvecovers. They look shitty with the coils mounted on them and you can't powdercoat them.

We are using these valve covers anodized. We are also painting the block Pontiac blue.

You sure can powder coat those covers. Who ever told you that you can't is smoking something in their pipe. I've done DOZENS of them for local guys.

Dad has been hard at work. I've been hard at work calling people......

I am running home in a few weeks and will have a few days to work with him on it.

Good news: no rust anywhere

Bad news: well, nothing yet.

Ran home for the week and actually got a lot done.

Front subframe got back from sandblasting last week. The subframe is mocked up where it needs to be cut for the motor mounts. Mounts are being made now. There is a dummy 4L80E case in and it looks like it will fit awesome. Bought the shifter we are going to use for it, but that is beyond our level of expertise. As well as the floorpans.

Oil pan looks like it will fit without any modifying. Got freaking lucky with that! All it needs is a bung for the oil temp sensor we are going to add.

I am ordering the transmission in 3 weeks when I can finally make sure that the 80E is going to fit without any issues. The tranny is the last piece we need. The rear end should be here next week.

Ordered a Currie 9", 35 spline axles, Moser Wavetrac, 3.25 gears, 1350 yoke, 4" driveshaft, and some kind of upgraded bearings. They definately upsold me on that option. HUGE THANKS TO TTA850 for putting up with my 351864 pm's and emails regarding the rear end.

Jim is finishing up the embroidery for out seats. Can't wait to see those! Jim, post up some teaser shots! The seats should be done by New years, but at the rate my upholstery guy works, New years of 2013 is theasible.

Still on goal for a March deadline! Then the car goes to Dallas for a tune and a meth install!

Looks good as I told you before. Still don't understand the single-plane, they make stock style intakes now that flow just as good. It'll be interesting to see how you make the shaker functional.

Who are you taking the car to in Dallas?

I'd love to run a Wilson intake, but $3500 is too steep. I refuse to run a composite intake under boost and with meth so that rules a fast unit iut.

Taylor @ Dallas performance. He's the man.
