okay , scanmaster showing code 34 (low maf signal) that and the blm is a little high (would explain the idle) so i guess the question is replace with stock or upgrade? DontKnow:

unless there is something else that could cause that code, and after looking at eric's site i guess its a no-brainer ( $200 stock rebuild, about $375 new maf and translator) now the question is z06, lt1, ls1 maf ?

LT1 and call it a day.

But I don't think that code means a bad MAF necessarily. Check the wiring first and foremost.

I use to lightly tap on my MAF with the buttend of a screw driver and the car would run worse or better. Try that and see if the numbers move around a lot while your lightly tapping on it.

Welcome to the club ... took the car out today for short spin ... battery dead so had to recharge ... then code 34 :-( pulled plugg at battery to reset ECM ... and code 34 again and runs really bad ...

So guess I have to play with my MAF as well ... luckily I got a spare OEM that I know is working so have to pull that one out and swap them around to see if that cures the problem ... project for this coming week I guess :-(

Man, guys I can't wait to have these kind of problems. Instead of rental property problems!

since i already needed chip @ injectors i got a maf @ translator from TT,plus i put a deposit on a truck to haul it to ohio, this is getting costly, but i thought what the hell, i can always get a cardboard sign that says HELP! NO GAS, FOOD, OR MONEY,plz help a girl out :WOOT::chat: :clap:

Man I wish I was earlier to post...but I'd have liked to know what your BLM number at idle was and what the Maf number at idle was too.

4,5,6 even 7 at idle is acceptable at 825-950 rpm. BLM numbers may be high because it's an open loop idle chip, so 130-136 even 138 would be normal too.

But as others have said the stock MAF,while gets the job done quite well, it's future is bleak because of availabilty....So, you will eventually be buying a translator and late model MAF.
Allot of times oil from these K&N filters we use gets ingested and throws off the sense filiment of the MAF's, new or old style. So if you've recently soaked your K&N maybe that's an issue.

What happened to that shiny black pickup truck you had the trailer hooked up to?
still got it , but its a 2001, 1500 ,6200 gvw with 167.000 mil on org motor @ trans, trailer is 2000 lb, car 4257#,10 hrs one way i think is asking for trouble.the truck im buying is a 07 gmc duramax 4x4 sle ext cab,blk with gray cloth,55,000 mil, very nice BADASS TRUCK, if @ when the bank approves i will post some pics

Yeah I can see where you are coming from, you do not want to be broke down on the side of the road.

Besides there are mountains to cross getting there.

maf was 5, blm jumped between 150@160, dont have a k&n ,stock filter, but i did unplug the ecm ,waited a few and it run better, but its a now or later thing with the maf

Okay,5 is good number,if it's consistent,But,150-160 is at the end of scale. So, if we can assume the MAF is okay then I'd be looking for a souce of unmetered air such as a vacuum leak, leaking coupler in the maf tube, header leak, etc.

I'll bet you don't see many cross counts either as the O2 is pinned lean.

i will check the cc tomorow, but i have heard a vac leak since ive had it ,just cant pinpoint it. same with the ant, hear it clicking as plain as day outside the car , not a thing on the inside

Oh man this thread is making me think twice about driving 365 all the way to Hebron.

You will be fine...and plus, you are mechanical enough to fix any small things!

Robert...sounds like your new truck will be up to the task much better even though you 1500 would do just fine...

HOT DAMN! bank approved the loan for the duramax, have to fly to fort lauderdale @ drive it back, this truck is sweet ! :WOOT:

cross counts look good, (resets about every 2 min) blm is still hanging around 150. i know i need to pull the tb and clean it, not sure if that and new gaskets would help much , but damn sure cant hurt

Nice looking truck.

I guess you are flying into FLL apt? I know this area well, have worked all around south fla.

The dealer is north of Ft Lauderdale. Take the I-595 to I-95 north and get off at the Copans Rd exit and go east to US 1 and go north . It is between Copans Rd and Sample Rd.

Or these nice people might be picking you up at the Apt. That would be nice.
