Head rest removal

Hey guys! How do I remove this headrest from the back rest. Does the metal bar attach to the head test or the seat?? I tried lifting the plastic tabs from the notches in the metal bar but didn't get any further. I'm scared to break a plastic piece.

Finally getting around to doing seat covers. Thanks

Thin blade of steel about a foot long then push it down I think in the back, could be up front not 100% sure right now ... and this will release the clip holding it ... so just slide it down along the metal bar you see there and you can then pull it up once released
 
Jarred, Here are pics of my headrest after getting covered and sewn by upholstery shop.

Ya I ended up buying a piece of metal siding for 99 cents and cutting it with tin snips. I've got the seat all apart with the old covers off. Just need to remove the two plastic sidepieces that are sewn to the old covers and have them sewn to the new covers. This project is slow.

What did the upolstry shop charge you ?? Around here they want $90 bucks an hour!!!!:blink: That seems a little rich to me. Cant everything be done at home in the garage??

Jarred,I looked at my invoice when I had the work done, I had the seats done by the guy that was doing my engine work a few months back. It said he sent seat covers and side bolsters to upholstery shop to have sewn together, also sent the headrests for recovering, the total price for upholstery shop was $135.

He had his TTA seats recovered sometime back, he used Jax on his and I used the Katzkin covers.
 
Did one back seat yesterday and man are my hands sore from closing the zipper. Wow thats tight. It was harder than hooking in the hogrings...

I still have to get the plastic side things on the front seats sewn to the new lether. Local tailor guy said he couldnt do it, and I should go to a leather store/??

Well see.....

Jarred-If you trim the excess leather from the inside of the seat cover, especially where it curves, it makes zipping it up a little easier.
 
Kymmee I cut the excess with scissors thanks for the tip it for sure helped. Back seats are in and done. Just found someone to see the plastic side prices to the new leather, a shoe repair place. Tailor said his needle was not durable enough.

How do I get the headrest leather off of the actuator? I don't wanna break any plastic. Anyone done this themselves?
