I don't understand? We should be encouraged that someone is asking this kind of money for there TTA. To be honest its pretty close to what it is worth. Asking 54,000 for a car that by the time you honestly negotiate if you were a serious buyer should bring in the neighborhood of 45-50. This value would cascade down to the average TTA also increasing the value and bring the attention to the TTA that it ultimately DESERVES!! Just saying...
 
It will be interesting to see if it sells, and for how much DontKnow:.
Basically it is a brand new (26 year old) car.

We would all like the values of the TTA to be through the roof, but that price is optimistic to say the least. Actual sales of cars with low mileage dictate an actual value. Judging by the sales price of some low mile cars in the past year, the seller's price is not realistic.

You are correct BUT the same thing that makes them collectable also hurts them, ie, low #'s = limited interest, it just is what it is until the market recognize's the car in general, and it will happen.
 
^^^ For example, I was at a cruise night last summer (at the local former Pontiac, now just Buick/GMC dealer), chatting with one of the mechanics (been a GM mechanic since 1989), even that guy was unaware of the details of TTAs. He was quite surprised when I showed him the LC2 in #545.

I agree. Just look at what the low mileage 1LE cars and 91/92 Firehawks bring these days.

as long as the sellers dont demand higher price for their car buyers dont have to pay $50000 for a low mile car.

I don't think if everyone put their TTA's up for sale for an inflated value that the values are automatically going to rise. You just would have fewer sales. A car priced astronomically higher then the rest will not push values up. It is like the 50 thousand dollar GTA someone has been pedaling over on Ebay. It has been up for sale for years and still has not sold. Did it raise the value of other GTA's? No. The value is unrealistic. In order for values to rise, not only do we need to set realistic, but higher prices, but there needs to also be people willing to pay the price.
 
I see both sides. Buyers want to buy in low and sellers want to sell high. But you cant have it both ways.

I really can't see someone paying 45-50-54k for a 700 mile car. For those of you that own the low mile ones (and I dont think anyone paid that price) would YOU buy that car for that much? No!

The other thing that hurts these cars IMO is the way they change hands so much. Seems like there is always 2 or 3 of them for sale.

I have been on this forum for about 4 yrs and those of you that have been here that long and longer, look at all the past members that owned for a short time and sold. I can think of a dozen or so that dont post anymore, because they sold their TTA.
 
Im glad to see this has generated some interest! For a second I thought everyone was hibernating for the winter.

I was wondering about this the other day... looking from a sort of another angle. No conclusion, just observation.
There were about 7000 Tigers made (64 thru 67), yet my ebay search finds very few cars for sale (no way to know how many are left, but even if only 1/2, that would still be over 3000 cars). Yet my TTA search tends to turn up one or two cars per week out of 1500?

I looked for about a year until I found the one I bought. In fact, I actually went and looked at one in Chicago on a Friday, THEN drove to Missouri on a Saturday and seen TWO there. So I bought one of them.

So in two days within 300 miles, I seen/drove 3 that were for sale.
Seems all of a sudden they're a dime a dozen. IMO only

Those cars were actually driven, most TTA's were not but rather stored away, i admit if i had one in the wrapper i might stare at it for awhile, but in the end i would drive the hell out of it, i have model cars to look at...:cowboy:

I enjoy low mile cars also but only if they are old cars. I don't think I could buy a newer car and keep it low miles. Some one else has to have the self control in the beginning, I don't think I could do it.

I have to fight myself not to drive the Turbo TA EVERY sunny day.

I love the TTA's and we up here in Canada were boned large as none were sold here. I've never seen one in person and don't know if there are any in Ontario. Most people around Ontario don't even know they exist, let alone how quick they are. One could do alot of street killing with a modded one where I live.:yes::yes:

I'm miffed these don't fetch more coin, but maybe that's cause they are even more rare here. Would the fact that Pontiac used a Buick engine be holding the value back? I still hope to own one some day
 
If you are a fan of the 3rd gen. F-body, you have already accepted your fate in as far as owning a Pontiac with a "corporate" engine is concerned.

With every other 3rd gen. powered by a Chevy V6 or V8, I can't imagine the Buick V6 holding TTA values back.
