#1035 New Owner! T-Top Cloth

Well after a decade of wanting one of these cars, owning several GTA's and 4th gens I was finally in a position to make it happen. Here is #1035 T-top Cloth with 14k Miles on it. It has been Very well cared for and in 1991 it was bought with 9k miles on it so in the last 21 years it was driven only 6k miles on weekends etc. I would rather that than a barn find which would need everything replaced!

Also check out what I found in the Spar tire Well! I think this is a testament to how minty this car is.

That was SC's offical flag when we succeded from the us

Wow, that really is MINT! Not even a hint of rip in that driver's seat - or wear on the steering wheel. Very nice find.

Have you gotten to drive it much yet? What do you think so far?

I am in love so Far!!!

Only thing im sad about is the A/C doesnt blow cold :(
The compressor doesn't kick on. it is all original R-12 so Im thinking about bringing it in to the local shop for 134. I bought all the fittings etc just want to have the shop vacuum the system.

Have them check for freon r12 or r134a leaks around the compressor. These are known for leaking orings on the housing. If you replace the compressor, have them transfer the OE pulley, or at least save it. They are unique to these cars and have a flywheel cast into the pulley, don't give it away as a core.

Great looking car, they are fun to own.ttariderttariderttariderttariderttariderttarider

Yes very good point there ... I had my A/C guy hang on to my compressor to see if he could re-build it and now years later (I said it was no hurry to get it done as we replaced the compressor) he can't find it and think he got rid of it however he's still looking for it he told me when we spoke about a month ago.

I turned around and bought a nice used correct TTA compressor for the very reason mentioned above (pulley) just to have one ... might get the pulley swapped over one of these days but the GM compressors are no fun doing that as they are press-fit and you need all the tools to pull it off and press it back on again.

I didn't even realize my car had been swapped over as it had all the original parts on the compressor, looked exactly like my other all original TTA as far as that was concerned. It wasn't until I went to check the freon in it and took the caps off the ports to discovered the ports were R134 ports and not R12!

I found a local shop that still has some R-12. I would rather keep it if posible since r12 rocks. Thanks for the info about the compressor. He will recharge and add Dye to see whats up.

Very nice car,,,Know exactly how you feel about it. When they first came out I was too young to think about that kind of price so it took me 10 years to get my first. I lost it 1yr later due to a divorce and it took me 13 years to get the second. I have had alot of High Gem birds over the last 25 years,,,,BUT once you put yourself in one of these babys,,,,it's hard not to come back. I'm sure you will give her a good home

Banshee where are you in LA? I think i read your old posts and you are on the northshore. Im in the Hammond area.
