AC Delco oil filter

AC Delco sells two style filters for our car. One is a 28 and the other is 35. I thought I read one place that 35 was a higher efficiency filter. Does anyone know anything about the comparison?

before i went to the reunion i did an oil change and found delco went back to using the original PF 1218. the newer version now has anti drain-back and is a little shorter for better fit. Diameter remains the same

you mean the 35 doesn't have a anti-drain back valve? Just did a quick search and answered my question. The 35 does not have a anti-drain back valve. Why would they make the filter without a anti-drain back valve?

Even the old 1218's didn't. I think the 35's are the filter for the GN/T-type correct? At least I think I remember using 1 on my '86 T. The TTA originally came with the 1218. I used wix and mobil 1 filters for a while, but now that they have updated the 1218 I went back to it. Don't know why it took Delco so long to implement the anti-drain back on their filters.

The 1218 is still longer then the Wix. It is about 4.5 inches long. The Wix is 3.5 inches long. How is the clearance? The last time I had an AC filter on the car, it wound up with a hole in it.

Yes, napa 1086 or wix 51086, both being the same except the way they are marketed.

You will still need 3 hands but it does have a little more clearance so its easier to get into position to put on/take off

I switched over to the Napa Gold (same as the wix). I used to use the K&Ns since that was about all I could get around here but I got tired of having them getting glued on and having to stab them with a screw driver to get them off.

After seeing filters cut open, I wouldn't ever use a Fram on anything, and I'd have to see the model of the ACDelco open. Some of them use cardboard for the endcaps and have no drain back/pressure relief valve.
