And I thought the owners kit brought big money ...

Dont surprise me. People have overlooked individual prices for years. Thats how I put together my collection in the past.
Example:
New wires in the box = 400 or whatever they are now
individual wires were looked down upon and no box... forget about it. But people fail to realize its still worth something. And as a poor collector starts accumulating lots of "unwanted" memorabilia, it comes together soon enough.
Also, remember that key fob that went for 75 bucks? heard some people giggling about that last year.
 
I guess if whatever the item is , if its' the only missing part to making a complete collection for them it may have been worth it to them. Someone may have had a owners kit that was short that booklet I suppose. The wires were another thing, I bought I don't know how many partial wire sets or singles to finally make a complete set that I have on the car and took the originals off to preserve. Some sets would have a bad wire or 2 but eventually got all 6 good ones...but this was way back 7-8 years ago before the prices got crazy. Weird how hardly anyone knows these cars, which is why the prices for the entore car aren't up much, but that that do have one will pay crazy prices for that one little part they need.... I remember paying almost $150 for a radiator overflow bottle for my '79 because the NOS parts could hardly be found and no one was re-popping them yet...and I had just bought one not 2 years earlier for a different '79 for $20 new!
 
I just can't pull the trigger on this stuff for this kinda coin. would love the owners kit (mainly for decals) but just can't see it
 
what's different about it? guess I haven't looked close enuff to notice cuz I was under the impression it was exact copy

Reproductions don't have the correct curvature if I am not mistaken. Jan knows...everything... PM Jan.

Yeah the originals were slightly curved, but its nothing if you take the repro ones and just make cuts between each letter, lay it out on the windshield the appropriate distance from the roof line, mark where each letter goes, then peel and stick...whahla..perfect curvature on the windshield! The lettering on the repros is an exact match to the originals, just without the curvature of the orig.
