Annoying computer help

This is probably a really stupid question that someone can answer in one line but two days ago I signed on to my computer which I have had for just over 2 years and now everytime I click a link the window that pops up is not maximized.

How do I set it so everything I click on maximizes automatically? It did it for two years and now something has changed. I am the only one who uses this computer and I changed no settings that I am aware of.

open a window that's not maximizing, take the mouse and drag the window fully open on all directions and angles to fit the screen full. Next time around it should remember it and maximize the window every time.

For some reason mine will do that once in a while too.....
Ive never tried Jims fix but find it seems to correct its self somehow.
