Another Exhaust question

Finally found an exhaust shop who will work on my cat-less TTA.
I'm putting a new muffler on and am going to replace all the piping from the test pipe back.
He ordered the main piece of pipe because he didnt have that size in stock- I asked what is was and he said it was 3''. I thought that sounded kind of large, does that sound right?
If not should I just have him make everything 3''? If so, would I be able to use the stock exhaust tips?

On second thought I bet he measured the test pipe which the inlet/outlet is 2 1/2 but the rest is 3''. Everything seems to be 2 1/2''. I'll have to let him know.

The stock pipe to the muffler is actuall 2 3/4 OD. I'd go with the 3" the tips should work
