Looking for ideas on mounting locations for a trans cooler, most likely will use B@M but definitely will have a fan, also curious on the size and type of fittings... TIA
Sooo.. i guess no one has ever put a trans cooler on a TTA, i will take pics of where it ends up and btw its not for towing ...its for gas mileage.. lol
I put a Fluidyne on both the TTA and the LS GTA, barbed fitting on the TTA and 6 AN on the LS car.But I had to put male AN fittings on the cooler for the LS car.
Neither have fans and I fashioned brackets to hang them in front of the cross support rods(or whatever they're called) in the core support.
Frankly, I wouldn't dare consider taxing a sub-par charging system the TTA has with another electrical load such as a fan for the cooler and I didn't for the LS GTA either even though it has more than enough alternator output.
Any reasonable sized cooler, like 8X10 ,fin and plate style , plumbed in series with the radiator is plenty to keep the tranny protected.
The TTA had a high stall, 3400 convertor and I probably spent a second or more too long on the t-brake a few times and my cooler set up fully protected the 200R.
The LS conversion is stand alone and the PCM tells me the 4L80 temps are normal and it has a slightly higher stall.
Did theTTA have nlu ? if so did it have a sprag ? It looks like more mounting options w/o a fan, just not sure how cool it would run... The plan is to install new duel feed billet forward drum trans with a Art Carr 3200 nlu tc i have with a temp gauge at the inlet, old set-up was a AC nlu trans with ACnlu 3000 stall tc, took it apart and most of the bands were burnt, would pull hard until it got hot.
