Anybody's IC shroud a piece of crap?

WS6

Stay thirsty my friends
Mine sure is, it wasn't pretty when I bought the car. Now it's worse! Somehow, at speeds over 90 MPH the front lip rolls under and chew itself up on the pavement. Not every time, but enough to grind off about an inch of the plastic. I suppose it's from being mangled already and half azz riveted together, it's pretty bendable. I ended up fabbing up some small flat stock steel for the leading edge and securing it with wire ties up to the bottom of the core support(tie bar). It's temporary, till next fall.

I wish they were cheaper aftermarket than they are, I just can't spend that much on a shroud.

I talked to Keith Mease about 4 years ago (yes in person, on a actual phone) and he had a stock aluminum or stainless reproduction of the stock dimentions of the stock scoop. Only 1. He may still have it. It would be cool if a fabricator coud make a nice reproduction.

He made them awhile. Sold them for $400. He sold two or three.

How would any air get in there? Need something to direct the air flow, other wise you get radiator air. Try it.DontKnow:

Yes, the air flow would be hotter, how much? don't know...There is that dedicated IC fan on the pulley.

$400 just seems too costly for something no one sees. But, they are on there for a reason!

Mease told me $150. I doubt you could locate the guy now. I heard it's hard to get parts from him, or that's what I read on a few threads on turbo buick.com a while back.

Mine was the same way-higher speeds it would scoop pavement like a snow shovel!
I bite the bullet and bought the re-rpoduction. It fit pretty well-but damn that was alot for a piece of plastic!.

mine is a mangled mess i ended up taking some branch cutters to because it was dragging on the ground and i was already late to work... that was a couple years ago. the reproductions are awfully expensive...
