Anyone else tired of all the "go green" mentality?

To be honest ever marketing ploy these days seems to be centered around eco friendly awareness. Even Google has gone "black" to raise awareness.

To me, it makes good sense to be "ecologically responsible". And to me that means recycling whenever possible, walking to the corner store to pick up a few items. Not dumping used motor oil off in the unused part of the yard, etc.

The problem with the "green movement", and that includes the global warming movement, et al. is that it has evolved into a religion. A religion of ignorance and fear.Complete with a deity, rapture and all the other facets of a religion.

And as with most religions the parishioners can assuage their guilt with money. Whether it be the multi millionaire politician/actor/tycoon buying fictitious carbon credits to justify the personal jet right down to the college professor and his Toyota Prius or Joe six pack and his mercury filled compact fluorescent light bulbs. None of which does much other than to make one feel like they are doing something.

But pop culture is that way. There have always been "movements of fashionable behavior" probably since man walked the earth and started gathering in groups. Some group always wanted to be the enlightened ones, the ones who can read the tea leaves of doom and preach to the rest of us, the great unwashed simpletons lest we change our evil ways.
If it weren't for the internet these folks would not have the world venue to spew their religion 24 hours a day, world wide.

The problem I have with it, is the hypocrisy of the fanatics of that religion. They make it appear that if we aren't on board with them then we will suffer the ravages of hell...much like a religion.

And if you think I'm being ridiculous in my analogy, just listen to the replies of this religion when you question it.

What's unjustified is the use of our modern education system to indoctrinate this religion. It's one thing to take an Eco-warrior class in college, it's quite another to make it mandatory for 3rd thru 12th graders. There is no choice, no other version,no alternative view. All the things that a good religion should be...tolerant and open minded.

We are only a blip in time anyway, thank goodness for buick powered toys. For alternative fuel source.. If the energy required to gimme the same 0-60 is the same powered by scrap McDonalds cheeseburger rappers, I'll buy it. Will it snow this July? no...:cold:
