anyone replace thier knock sensor??

Man I am trying to get to my knock sensor to remove it but there is so much crap in the way. I took off the coil thing and the bracket holding it up and there is still a buch of wires and a plastic case thing in the way. What a PITA! if any one has any hints or tips that would be appreciated.

For your sanity, just spend a few extra moments to remove the stuff in the way. When installing the new sensor make sure not to overtighten. I've heard if it's too tight/loose you can get false knock. (Luckily I never have)
 
14 ft./lbs is the torque spec. Do not remove the thread sealant on the replacement and do not add any other thread sealant, Install as is.
 
ya I moved all the stuff and got an extra extension for the socket, its pretty easy when all that stuff is out of othe way. Jarred.
 
no still getting some false knock, but mostly when the tranny shifts gears. I still can't find the source but then I am no real expert.
 
Goes right were the red arrow points (not installed in the picture or might hit it when installing engine in car).

well that looks fun when the motors out , wow thats a tight spot while in the car . im only 6 foot 3 in and 235 , easy one lol . thanks for the great pic helps alot my best to ya .:toot:
 
yeah it is a pain to get at!! but doable once you move the stuff out of the way. Be sure to only torque to 14ftlbs if I remember correctly. to update the thread my false knock was from my down pipe hitting the car.
 
thanks for that and i have checked all pipes added 3 gallans of 108 to 11 gallens of 93 oct and no more knock . time for scanmaster lol:thumbup:
