Anyone use a hawks rear spoiler?

Hey guys need to purchase a replacement spoiler before paint starts. Has anyone bought the one from hawks? How was it for fit and finish? Was there Alot or extra amount of prep needed? If there is a better one availible please advise. Thanks

Yep!....most of us have done it....you know, it's an aftermarket piece so it's not perfect but it sure is a problem solver.

I have one. It is the only alternative, and looks good if done right.

I am happy with mine and it looks great. The body shop did say it took a little more prep than an oem part.

I am also very happy with the Hawks spoiler. It is considerably lighter than the OEM piece and you've got to like not looking at a cracked/rotten spoiler anymore.

Not sure the NOS parts are still available and even so, would be subject to the same failure as the original. They do come up occasionally, but are very expensive.

You will need a good body shop you trust to prep it and attach it. It does not attach like the original does. Come with the bracket to attach it from Hawks. Both wings need to be prepped where the spoiler lays on the rear hatch. Each spoiler seems to be a little different and won't fit perfect. My body shop called me and wanted me to see the gap on the right side before they proceeded with their fix just to let me know of the gap. They worked it down and close as they could get and then suggested to hide any gap they put a small bead of white caulk where the spoiler met the rear hatch to hide it and make it look uniform. I thought it was a great idea and OK'd it. I think it turned out great. Looks awesome and like Gatorlance said, much lighter so your hatch will lift easy and be much a lot less wear and tear on the struts. Here are some pics after it was done.

Mine was replaced shortly before I purchased the car. Whoever did the work, did a good job. The fit is nice, and it looks uniform on both sides.

Still got the original on mine. When I replace it , I will use the Hawk's spoiler. It seems to be the only proven one that works!:thumbup:
