I have thought about buying a 94' to 95' Trans Am with T-tops and i was wanting to know if that is a dependable car. And what all could be wrong with it. And i need to know what to look for in a Trans Am. Thank you for who ever replys to this and helps me. :lol:

95 would be the better of the two. Vented opti, hi rise spoiler, different wheels just to name a few.

I personally would get a 97 model. OBD II makes diagnostics much easier (if you have a scantool) and 97 was the last year of the LT1 with the latest updated parts. As for 94-95, I too would get the 95. The main difference is the Optispark design. It is vented, runs off the camshaft dowel instead of a splined stubshaft, doesn't leak oil like the earlier style optispark and the optispark cap and rotor can be bought. Also, the 95 has a little better data in the PCM. All 93-97's have the high rise spoilers, some of the 94's were available with the firebird style spoiler.

The standard spoiler was the beaver tail like the Formula. The Hi rise came out in 94 on the GT, I believe. It became standard on the 95 TA.

If you only have a 94 or 5 to choose from, and they are equiv. in terms of miles, options, and general care, I would go 94. There were fewer TA's made for 94 tan 95. That is if production numbers are a concern, otherwise go newer.
