I would think that the Salvage title would really hurt at a big Auction like this... might be a great "driving" car, but how much of a "collector"??
 
If that car was worth $19,800 then I want $50,000 for mine. Of course Barrett Jackson draws a crowd and the all mighty dollar. Mine is in hibernation mode right now and I don't want to wake it up. :)
 
They are lucky they got the 16.5 for it. I remember this one, and by looking at the pics. it is not in tip top shape. Seats cracking from not being maintained and the same for the steering wheel. The carpet is almost dark in places. Even the engine bay is not appealing.

I suppose they were lucky it sold at the Auction, otherwise they would still have it. The 19.8k price they paid for it originally was insane, especially since it has a bad title and it is not in the best of shape.:WOOT:

If it was bringing that kind of money i would guess it was a stolened/recovery thing, but then again that old song "a fool and his money soon goes separate ways" (Evil woman) was a big hit. Anyhow it look's like # 1284...
 
Was on ebay just under a year ago for $18k but don't think it sold.

The history report at that time showed this:
Odometer problem title record(s)
Rebuilt/rebuildable title record(s)
Salvage title or salvage auction record(s)

And the milage was rolled back 1000 miles between two of the most recent inspections ... down to 25k something from 26k ...then back up again?
 
I spoke to the seller last year he said it was stolen and never made it off the property from which it was stolen from and crashed in to a fence along a long driveway! He also seamed to think the salvage title was no big deal ,and said
" if you really want this type of car the salvage title shouldn't matter"
Believe it or not! Of course we all know better. Still it amazes me anyone would pay that much ,when there are enough for sale with a good title!
