I haven't seen a thread like this over hear so I thought it would be fun to start one. I don't street race it's not worth it plus I have to much to lose.
I ran up against a 2004 Ford Mustang Cobra (supercharged) last month. I agreed to race him without the NOS because both our cars are mid 12's. I have all the bolt on and a stall. He had a catback and intake.
I new I would get him down low because he was only running street tires, but I new it was only a matter of times before he reeled me in so my launch had to be perfect. As we all know, it is all in the 60' time.
Now for the race: I did my burnout and and was set to go. I immedialey pulled on him (1.71 60' time) to his 1.92 with me having a very slight edge on the reaction time. I checked the rear view mirror at about the thousand foot mark and he was right there. I ended up with 12.57 at 109mph to his his 12.62 112 mph. Yes I won by a nose.
Last week I ran up against a beat up Caprice stationwagon. I noticed he had slicks so thought maybe he might stay with me. We launched and he went by me like nothing. I ended up with 12.6 to his 10.4 at 135 MPH. He demolished me. The funnest part is I went by to get my timeslip and the female attendent said" You just got smoked by a staionwagon" and laughed. I thought it was kinda funny myself.
